Our client is a regional multi – temperature foodservice wholesaler to the catering and hospitality trade operating in the Southern half of the country ( M4 below ) They are currently seeking a Buyer . The position is permanent.
This is a key position within a regional foodservice wholesaler. Reporting into the Managing Director the successful candidate will devise strategies for an agreed product portfolio of multi-temperature food products to maximise quality, volume, profit and market share through the best use of range, prices and promotions.
This will be achieved through the development of appropriate commercial strategies and by building supplier and customer partnerships which enable effective sourcing and supply of products of the requisite quality, at optimum prices and in a timely manner and which exceed customers’ and consumers’ expectations.
You will ensure effective tracking of supplier revenues.
You will ensure proactive liaison with other departments as necessary to forecast, plan to meet and to supply demand to relevant quality.
You will be an accomplished Buyer or an experienced Trading Manager with your experience gained in foodservice, cash and carry or retail.
You will be a dynamic, confident team player, strategic, analytical thinker and should combine excellent inter personal skills with a positive approach to handling pressure.
You will be able to build relationships at all levels with both suppliers and customers.
You will have a thorough, in-depth knowledge of client, market and sector trends specific to major brands operating in hotels, restaurants, pub groups, leisure etc.
Highly developed analytical skills are essential, as are well developed IT/ PC skills (including Excel), and you must be able to interpret data and information in various formats.
You will be numerate, have excellent presentation and communication skills, be able to communicate at all levels, and be decisive, assertive and persuasive.
You will enjoy a high level of autonomy and therefore must be highly self-motivated to achieve agreed goals.
You will have strong negotiating skills and able to manage your own time effectively.
Basic salary will be around £30,000 - £35,000pa. Promotion prospects are excellent with those seeking to be a Buying Director.
