Description :

Our Client is the International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai. As part of its role it maintains two military camps one in the North close to the Mediterranean coast and one in the South near Sharm El Sheikh.
They are currently seeking a Legal Assistant   to be based at the North Camp at El Gorah in the Sinai. The position is offered on a 2 year contract, renewable.
Reporting into Force Counsel - Legal and Treaty Affairs (FCN) the successful candidate will be a key member of the Force Legal Office and will perform a variety of legal and administrative duties, sometimes complex and confidential in nature, to satisfy normal operational requirements.
Specifically you will draft and/or assist with the drafting and review of Treaty Violation Reports and Closing Reports on Treaty incidents. 
You will provide guidance and oversight to Duty Investigator teams on Treaty Investigations.
You will liaise with the Civilian Observer Unit on all observations that present a potential violation of the Treaty.
During the FCN’s absence, in consultation with the General Counsel and SOLO, you will assume primary responsibility at the Force for drafting all legal documents and correspondence issued by the Force Commander or his delegate. 
You will act as a support resource and back-up to the FCN on matters relating to interpretation and application of the security provisions of Treaty-related issues, including review of past virep precedents. 
You will advise the FCN when incidents fall within previous legal interpretations.
You will represent the FCN at Commander’s Update Briefs, Cabinets, and other meetings/conferences in the FCN’s absence.
You will prepare the initial draft of Monthly Summary of Incidents and Findings and final draft of Monthly Summary of Serious Incident Reports (SIRs) for HQ.
You will draft or assist with the drafting and review of initial incident reports for SIRs, you will track the SIR process in order to ensure expeditious actions are taken in order to close out the case, and will prepare drafts of follow-up SIRs until closure.
You will draft or assist in the drafting convening orders for FCN review for Formal Investigations.
You will provide guidance and technical assistance to Boards of Inquiry and Formal Investigations.
You will assist the FCN in providing information to key staff on Treaty-related matters and on every subject area that may have affected the Force since its inception.
You will review and provide input to the preparation of all Force Military Police Unit (FMPU) reports.  You will assist the FMPU in their conduct of investigations pertaining to SIRs and/or routine reports by suggesting lines of questioning, areas of useful investigation and similar assistance and by ensuring that accurate references are made to FSOPs, FSOs, and/or Directives.
You will prepare drafts of claims for HQ to recover money for damages incurred by vehicles as a result of accidents involving gross negligence.
You will prepare vehicle accident reports for insurance companies in Egypt and Israel.
You will maintain extensive archives of Force documents and files.
You will prepare correspondence, and, when asked, take minutes of meetings from written drafts and/or dictation.
You will be an accomplished Graduate or Post-High School Paralegal or a Certificated Legal Assistant.
You should have extensive experience in legal assistance or in a paralegal service. 
You must possess excellent writing and communication skills, with an emphasis on legal terminology.
Proficiency in word processing and computer literacy is essential.
Experience of legal work in an Armed Forces environment is highly desirable.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a driver’s licence.
Our client is seeking a minimum of 24 months commitment.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Included in the basic salary is a 20% location allowance payable and also a 7% allowance in lieu of a pension scheme, both of which are tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
A 2 year unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, health insurance and meals. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
