Workshop Supervisor
Location: Lincolnshire
Salary: £30-35k

A Workshop Supervisor is required to undertake investigative / repair work in line with company procedures on machines in the Lincoln Workshop as designated by the Workshop & Depot Controller.
You will have plant maintenance experience having worked with hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanics and have appropriate CSCS qualifications. As this is a trouble shooting role any experience in this area would be desirable. You will also be expected to help and develop apprentices.

The suitable candidate will ensure that any work undertaken is performed with adherence to instructions from Service Co-ordinators, company procedures and codes of conduct identified in the employee handbook. On occasion the candidate may be asked to work Night Shift(s). Night work is considered to be between the hours of 2200 and 0600 and is paid at overtime rate. There may be some requirement to provide support and supervision to the other Workshop Engineers to ensure jobs are completed effectively and efficiently by deputising for the Workshop and Depot Controller. There will also be a requirement to provide close effective coaching and mentoring of the Workshop apprentices to ensure they are pro-actively learning and developing the necessary skills required

Responsibilities:

(A)Procedural
1.To ensure that any work undertaken is performed in adherence to company procedures and codes of conduct identified in the employee handbook.

2.To ensure that any work undertaken is performed in adherence to instructions, either written or verbal by the Service Coordinators.

3.To ensure that any work undertaken is performed with adherence to the Workshop Supervisors instruction

4.To ensure that any work undertaken is performed in adherence with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures

(B)Operational (On Site Work)
1.SERVICE JOB ASSIGNMENT
Service Jobs will be assigned by the Workshop & Depot Controller in line with skill capabilities and customer requirement.

2.SERVICE JOB DETAILS
Service Job details will be communicated, by the Workshop & Depot Controller verbally and via an internal workshop job-sheet. Verbal communication will outline the basic requirements of the work. Detailed instruction will be outlined on the Internal Service Order job-sheet (Workshop job-sheet). In the event that a job-sheet is not available it is the responsibility of the Workshop & Depot Controller to ensure that job instructions are communicated.

3.PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
You are issued with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). It is your responsibility to ensure that the PPE is in good order. If you identify any defective PPE, contact the product support team for replacements.

4.PARTS
Parts required to undertake the items on the job-sheet will be identified using the internal parts identification system. These parts will then be added to the specific job sheet and will be picked by the parts team. Liaison with the parts team on availability or where required ordering out-of-stock items shall be undertaken

5.FOLLOWING JOB COMPLETION
After informing the Workshop & Depot Controller of the job completion and dependent upon the time you will be instructed to do one of the following:
Return any parts return.
Undertake general workshop duties.
Go Home (in the event that there is no work)

If within your normal contracted hours you are instructed to go home, this does not affect your standard contracted hours and you are paid accordingly.

6.NIGHT WORK
On occasion you may be asked to work Night Shift(s). Night work is considered to be between the hours of 2200 and 0600 and is paid at overtime rate. In the event that a night work request causes a missed standard day shift in advance of the night shift, you will be paid for the missed shift. Similarly if the night shift causes you to miss a standard day shift following the night shift, you will be paid for the missed shift.

7.SUPERVISION
You are required to provide support and supervision to the other Workshop Engineers ensuring jobs are completed effectively and efficiently. When required you will deputise for the Workshop and Depot Controller. You will be required to provide close effective coaching and mentoring of the Workshop apprentices to ensure they are pro-actively learning and developing the necessary skills required


(C)Personnel
1.Ensure a high level of communication is maintained with respect to customer and company performance within the Workshop team
2.Maintain a high-degree of flexibility with regards workload and required timescale
3.Ensure the Workshop & Depot Controller is fully informed of the original fault diagnosis, work undertaken, and any further actions required by the employer or the customer
4.Ensure that sufficient cover is maintained within the Workshop Team to manage the efficient operation of all administrative requirements
5.Identify training requirements and implement actions to ensure that sufficient levels of competence are maintained within the Workshop team, to manage effectively the operational processes and procedures.
