Our Client is part of a large building products group and is the UK`s leading manufacturer of clay building products, serving all sectors of the construction industry and is renowned for being innovative and forward thinking. They have 26 manufacturing sites across the UK.
They are seeking a Production Systems Engineer who will report into the Director of Manufacturing Development. The job holder will be based at the nearest manufacturing facility nearest to where they live. The position is permanent.
Reporting into the Director of Manufacturing Development, the successful applicant will join our clients Group Process Improvement Team and will provide programming and software support to our clients factories in the development and enhancement of effective production systems.
Key responsibilities will lie in system/process development, working closely with the Information Systems Department (where appropriate) to ensure business ownership by new solutions and initiatives in the following functional areas.
You will carry out the collection, analysis and reporting of machine downtime data to drive process optimisation.
You will take responsibility for the development of a standardised central asset management system based on the principles of planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
You will take responsibility for the development of a standardised stock management system fully integrated with an automatic re-ordering system to support the PPM process.
You will take responsibility for the delivery of IT/software solutions to localised process control issues and the roll out of delivered best practice.
You will take responsibility for the streamlining of production information flows based on the notion of E.D.O. (enter data once).
You will take responsibility for the development of effective manufacturing audit systems.
The position will involve travel to all parts of the UK.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ideally you will be an accomplished Software Specialist with demonstrable experience of delivering software solutions in a manufacturing environment.
Your practical experience should be supported by recognised qualification in computer programming / software development.
You should be well versed in manufacturing and manufacturing processes.
You should have experience in the development of SCADA systems.
Ideally you will have some project management experience.
You should possess well-developed numeracy and PC / IT skills.
You should have a demonstrable commitment to the continuous improvement ethic and to the use of TPM tools to improve manufacturing capability.
You will have a high degree of self-motivation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will have an ability to meet deadlines and stay cool under pressure
You will be able to adjust to rapidly changing business environment.
You will be well organised, numerate, analytical and focussed.
You will be able to work in a team environment and be an effective team player.
You should possess a clean Drivers Licence.
Salary will be negotiable depending upon skillset and experience and likely to be in a range of £42 - 45k. Other benefits include 25 days holiday rising to 28 days plus bank and public holidays, pension and death in service benefit.
