Our client is a leading distributor of specialist building products in Europe, with strong positions in its core markets of insulation and energy management, interiors and exteriors. The Group principally operates in 9 countries in Europe and has trading operations in a further 6, including countries in the Middle East, serving a wide range of trades in the building and construction markets.
Within the UK they have a nationwide depot network and are currently seeking a Class 2 Driver / Warehouse Operative for their depot in Southern Hampshire, close to the South Coast. The role is permanent.
Overall you will deliver goods in a timely, safe and efficient manner providing excellent customer service to customers and helping out in the warehouse when required.
Specifically you will make delivery of materials to multi drop locations - sites and customer premises.
You will make all deliveries according to customer requirements and timescales using the correct offloading equipment.
You will assist with the loading/unloading of the vehicle.
When not driving, you will work in the yard / warehouse and carry out general warehouse duties. .
You will maintain the warehouse in a clean and tidy condition.
You will ensure consistent and clear communication with logistics departments where required.
You will ensure that all loads are safe and checked against paperwork before departure.
You will ensure and complete deliveries in a safe and proper manner.
You will present a positive image of our client to the customer, at all times.
You will ensure that all relevant delivery paperwork is completed properly.
You will carry out vehicle checks and routine maintenance, reporting any defects.
Finally you will complete all paperwork to comply with current legislation for tachograph and the working time directive.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Class 2 Driver ideally with experience of HIAB/Crane/Moffett/ Forks etc.
This role will particularly appeal to military leavers and those Drivers with an ex-military background. You should be a keen team player with a focus on providing excellent customer service, have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
You should be familiar with health and safety procedures as they relate to the work of a Driver.
You should be familiar with safe loading and unloading procedures.
You should be familiar with defensive driving techniques.
You should be very familiar with tachograph requirements and the Working Time Directive.
A flexible approach to working hours is essential as you may be required to work extra hours.
A full training package will be provided and support to gain full CPC.
Starting salary is £21,000 per annum on a 47.5 hour contract, Monday to Friday 7am to 4.30pm.
Overtime is paid at basic hourly rate unless it is weekends which is time and half.
Benefits include membership of the Group pension scheme, childcare vouchers and contributory health scheme. Holiday entitlement is 25 days paid holiday per year, not including bank holidays, however as our client is not open between Christmas Eve and New Year`s Day, 3 days have to be retained for that period.
