Our client is a nationwide truck and trailer rental operator with a fleet of over 2500 vehicles across 7 depots. They have a large range of trucks and trailers for hire from light vans to 44 tonne tractor units (and most things in between). Their vehicles are available on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, or on a longer-term contract if required.

They are currently seeking a Workshop Foreman for their Hampshire based depot close to the South Coast. The role is permanent.
Reporting into the Depot Manager, the successful candidate will manage the vehicle workshop and field based activities.
You will manage a small team of Trailer Fitters and will be expected to carry out various repairs to a wide range of heavy goods vehicle trailers. This will include MOT preparation, trailer inspections on and off site and breakdowns.
Specifically you will prioritise workloads, liaising with the Depot Manager and hire desk.
You will manage a small team carrying out servicing, repairs and MOT’s of the company’s rental fleet.
You will perform pre-delivery inspections in line with company policy.
You will complete all paperwork, clock cards and job cards accurately and efficiently within the time scale required.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished HGV Trailer Fitter / Technician with extensive experience of carrying out a wide range of repairs to trailers and ideally have some supervisory experience.
You will be familiar with MOT procedures.
You will be familiar with pre-delivery inspection procedures.
You should have some welding skills along with ABS and EBS knowledge although training could be given.
You should be capable of working under your own initiative and with minimum supervision.
You should be able to keep up to date all paperwork and progress.
You should be familiar with health and safety procedures as they relate to a vehicle workshop.
You should be reliable, hardworking, trustworthy and passionate in your work.
You will have good people skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
You must have your own tools.
You should be PC / IT literate.
You must have a full UK driving licence, an HGV licence would be beneficial as would digital tachograph knowledge.
A willingness to work flexible hours is essential. You will be required to be on call at various times.
Starting salary will be in a range of £11-12 per hour depending upon experience and skill set.
Standard contract is a 45 hour working week, Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm with a one hour lunch break.
Overtime is paid at basic hourly rate unless it is weekends which is time and half. Holiday entitlement is 22 days plus bank and public holidays.
