Our client is part of a much larger Group and is a provider of construction, management and supply of labour camps for the oil and gas, mining, construction, humanitarian and post conflict sectors.
They are currently seeking an Estimator for their Business Development department based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The successful candidate will be responsible for determining how much a project would cost and how much revenue the project should generate. You will take into account factors such as labour costs, material costs, equipment rental, manufacturing locations, facility costs and required permits and licensing. You will work closely with the Lead Estimator / Business Development Head to make sure the project meets all financial and regulatory guidelines.
Specifically you will prepare consistent and reliable forecasts on cost, size and duration of future projects.
You will work effectively with the Procurement Department, Construction Department and overseas offices to collect and analyze data affecting COST in all factors, such as materials, labour, location, duration of the project, and/or requirements on mobilization of special machinery.
You will review and collect data on preliminary site information of the proposed project such as access to the site; surface topography and drainage, availability of electricity, water and other services which may go in the final project estimate.
You will review and collect data on take-off process of the project and each phase of the operations by identifying correct quantity of materials without stock-outs/over-stocks, identifying exact timing of the required equipment, estimating minimum and effective levels of manpower requirements and constraints at the project site.
You will provide a reliable basis of valuation in estimating allowance for wasted materials, inclement weather, shipping delays, and other factors that may increase costs.
You will conduct special studies to develop and establish standard related cost data.
You will prepare comprehensive a costing sheet summary for the entire project that includes but not limited to projected mark-up, costs relevant to labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, overhead, taxes, insurance, and any additional costs that may affect the project.
Finally a comprehensive costing sheet must be an informative format and functional for the needs of Management who approves which proposed projects are profitable and advantageous.
The successful candidate is likely to be an experienced Estimator, Cost Engineer or an accomplished Cost Accountant with part of your experience gained in a fast moving business environment e.g logistics and transport, facilities management etc.
Ideally you will have some international experience.
You will ideally hold a professional accounting degree to include audit or cost accounting duties or have a Degree in Business Administration.
You must have a good level of working knowledge in Microsoft Office package and use of the Internet.
You must be fluent in English. The ability to speak Arabic will be an advantage.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence.
The basic salary is paid in AED and is all inclusive and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
