Our Client is a highly respected Independent Co-educational Boarding School located in South Cumbria. The School is a vibrant, demanding and supportive community which encourages pupils and staff to be involved in as broad a range of activities as possible. Art, Drama and Music are especially strong, and the School has a national reputation for Sport. Due to continued growth of the School, they now seek to recruit an experienced Domestic Manager (Cleaning, Catering and Hospitality). The role is permanent.
The vacancy is for a fulltime ‘Domestic Manager (Cleaning, Catering and Hospitality)’. The duties of the Domestic Manager will be wide and varied and are detailed in the Job Description which will be provided to suitable applicants. The main areas of responsibility will be:
Managing in excess of 100 staff members that form the School’s Cleaning Catering, and Laundry Teams.
Management of the Operations Assistant.
Efficient management of budgets.
Setting effective Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
To manage the Schools requirement for Pest Control and Sanitary Waste Collection by sourcing suitable suppliers/contractors, seeking competitive tenders in order to select best value service.
Ensuring that the School obtains competitive tenders annually for cleaning service and supplies.
Reviewing working practices in order to suggest and implement improvements and efficiencies.
Ensuring all Operations & Services staff receive Child Protection Training, Induction Training and an annual appraisal.
Enduring all Operations & Services staff are adequately trained to fulfil their roles.
To produce new Risk Assessments as and when required.
To assume responsibility for all School run Holiday Courses; this will include recruitment and management of staff during the courses, planning with the Course Leaders the operations and service required during the courses, and ensuring that all catering and laundry requirements etc. are met.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Bursar, but will be expected to maintain close working relationships with Internal Department Heads, and external Course Providers.
The role would suit an individual from a Catering, Hospitality or Facilities Management background.
Knowledge and Skills:
The successful candidate is likely to be an accomplished FM / Catering Manager who has had previous responsibilities for catering, laundry, cleaning, waste and pest control.
Experience within the education field is desirable but not essential
You should be educated to degree level or possess proven relevant experience.
You will have the ability to manage 100 to 150 staff.
You will possess strong organisational and planning skills.
You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
You will have the ability to manage and deliver financial budgets.
You will have the ability to manage and administer commercial activities.
You should possess good analytical and commercial ability.
You should have an imaginative and customer-orientated approach.
You should possess a high degree of computer and PC literacy.
The salary offered is in the region of £32,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus generous pension and benefits package
