Introduction:
Our client based in North Shields, Tyne and Wear is a leading international development company dealing with ship management and integrated logistics support systems. Due to continued expansion our client is now looking for a General Manager to join their existing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall company management as this role is gradually moving on to take over from the Managing Director. Please note that full training will be provided for this role, although not essential this will ideally suit someone with a Senior Management background and also has previous Marine / Weapons Engineering experience therefore anyone meeting this criteria is strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities of the General Manager (Managing Director Designate) will include the overall company management; - Taking charge of marketing for the company. - Preparation of contract specifications. - Price estimations. - Contract negotiations. - Post contract award customer liaison. - Develops strategic plan by studying technological and financial opportunities; presenting assumptions; recommending objectives. - Accomplishes subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections. - Coordinates efforts by establishing technical services policies and practices; coordinating actions with corporate staff. - Build company image by collaborating with customers, organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices. - Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. - This role will have added responsibilities as gradually it will evolve into being the Managing Director.
Applicant Requirements: - The successful candidate must be educated to degree level and have experience of working within the marine / weapons engineering / Royal Navy or Merchant Navy industry. - Knowledge of naval ILS requirements. - An appreciation of computer base management systems would be advantageous. - Proven management background. - Good communication skills. - Team Player - Good organisational skills. - Electrical / Mechanical engineering skills.
