Description :

We are working directly for an associate recruitment and HR consultancy based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
They currently have a number of clients who are seeking Construction Project Managers to work in New Zealand.  The work will be on commercial and residential rebuild project in Christchurch although opportunities do exist in other parts of New Zealand.   The roles are permanent.
Successful candidates will process the construction phase of a project(s) in conjunction with the Project Manager.
Whilst the exact duties will vary depending upon who the end client is, typical responsibilities are as follows:
The successful candidate’s will process the construction phase of a project(s) in conjunction with senior management.
You will implement, manage and monitor the Company’s safety program.
You will be responsible for effective project administration (including negotiating, awarding subcontracts for scopes of work, resolving issues to meet project goals ...).
You will expedite all materials and equipment deliveries and monitor quality of work on site.
You will manage project budgets and timelines to exceed requirements.
You will maintain an excellent corporate image and ensure customer satisfaction.
You will be an experienced Construction Project Manager ideally with a Degree / Diploma in Building   Construction alternatively with relevant trade qualifications from a recognised trade, training college / school or university.
Experience with the likes of steel portal framed buildings and glass curtain wall type systems will be an advantage.
Candidates should be able to offer a solid range of proven technical and project management skills, with good systems knowledge and strong attention to detail.
Candidates should know how to lead an on-site construction team and have the people skills in managing a range of external relationships.
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration.
You will have the ability to formulate, write and submit detailed site reports and have proven ability to prioritise incoming works and the ability to manage on-site construction works to the highest standard possible.
You will have excellent knowledge in safety regulations appertaining to the construction industry.
You will have supervisory experience of tradespersons, and the ability to motivate and enforce western work practices and standards.
You will have the ability to motivate your team and be reliable and flexible.
You will have a high level of initiative, problem solving and decision making ability and will be someone who pays attention to the detail and highly organised.
You should possess excellent project management and communication skills in English, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC literate with MS Office, e mail, the Internet.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Construction Project Manager looking for something different.
Salary will typically be in a range of between 130,000 – 150,000 New Zealand Dollars (NZD) for an experienced Project Manager. Most vacancies will come with a company vehicle, bonus and Kiwisaver.
Candidates are expected to fund their own relocation and should therefore have around £2000 – £3000 available to cover flight costs, visa costs and relocation costs etc.
