Our Client is a subsidiary of a leading global provider of design, engineering, program management, construction management, and operations and maintenance support. They provide facilities management support to the International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai, Egypt.
They are currently seeking a Pavement & Grounds Supervisor to be based at the North Camp located in the North of the Sinai close to the Mediterranean coast. This is an 18 month contract position initially and then renewable for an additional 18 months.
Reporting into the Facilities Engineering Manager, you will supervise, plan, schedule and direct the activities of Egyptian personnel engaged in grounds maintenance and Heavy Equipment Operation.
You will make short and long-range planning recommendations regarding fiscal needs, construction, maintenance and repair of roads and parking lots, athletic areas and company landscaping.
You will supervise tasks concerned with maintaining the appearance and condition of grounds, gardens, walkways and roads on company facilities.
You will compile and produce required reports.  You will assist in the planning of landscaping and other grounds projects by preparing rough sketches and schedules, and estimates of manpower, materials and equipment necessary to accomplish the project.
You will maintain knowledge of safety policies and procedures regarding the proper tools/equipment for land preparation and cultivation.
You will be an experienced Heavy Equipment operator with knowledge of truck and equipment operational safety. You will supervise water, sewer and garbage truck operation. You will have experience in the operation of front end loaders and cranes, and other pieces of heavy equipment.
You will be responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance activities involving the P&G department and also ensure operational and maintenance operations under his/her responsibilities are carried out in strict accordance with the Company’s current safety rules and operating procedures; also in accordance with standard industry practice.
You will also be responsible for guarantying a good level of availability of the equipment or special tooling responsible for production.
You will be responsible for organising onsite preventive and corrective maintenance operations which are placed under your responsibility.
You will assist the planning team by giving any technical support for the preparation of the jobs in your discipline.
You will report daily directly to the designated Supervisor/Manager and ensure that the Company, Customer and Site Regulations and Policies are adhered to and respected, as well as approved operating procedures and standard industry practice during performance of maintenance operations.
You will monitor and maintain equipment and special tooling to include upkeep of Company/Site vehicles.
You will ensure that the transfer of knowledge by mentoring to the Egyptian workforce occurs properly within your team, and actively supervise tasks being performed.
You will train and direct subordinate Egyptian National staff in applicable areas of performance in accordance with Generally Accepted Industry and Professional Standards and the approved On-Job- Training Program.
You will keep a critical eye on current corrective and preventive maintenance programs and, if needed, suggest and makes improvements and verify the performance of your team by frequent on site checks.
You will have extensive experience, with experience in a supervisory role, in service industry involving Grounds Maintenance and Heavy Equipment operations and quality inspections.
You will have a recognized Heavy Equipment Certification/License from Home Country with experience in Roads and Ground Maintenance operations.
Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally you should be pc literate and possess a Drivers Licence.
The basic salary is paid in the currency of your citizenship and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
An 18 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, disability insurance and meals. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The R and R entitlement is 38 days over the 18 month contract plus 12 public holidays a year.  Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
