We are working with an associate recruitment company who has offices in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and Dublin. They currently have a client who is seeking Construction Site Managers to work in New Zealand. Opportunities exist at various levels depending upon your experience, knowledge and skill set.
The work will be on commercial rebuild projects in Christchurch. The projects will be connected with the rebuild of Christchurch city following the earthquake last year. The rebuild of Christchurch city is scheduled to offer employment opportunities for the next 8 to 10 years.
Successful candidates will process the construction phase of a project(s) in conjunction with the Project Manager.
You will have the management and supervision of multiple projects and sites. Furthermore, you will manage fundamental site resources, materials and the relationship with the company`s contractors and sub-contractors.
You will implement and manage the path programming implemented by the Project Manager.
You will be responsible for effective financial management and financial reporting.
You will deliver a quality- product in line with company and market expectations.
You will manage project budgets and timelines to exceed requirements.
You will oversee the delivery of quality work on site.
You will implement and manage all aspects of health and safety on site.
You will liaise with clients and ensure excellent customer satisfaction is maintained.
You will be responsible for material lists / take offs.
You will maintain an excellent corporate image and ensure customer satisfaction.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an experienced Construction Site Manager ideally with a Degree / Diploma in Building Construction alternatively with relevant trade qualifications from a recognised trade, training college / school or university.
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration.
You will have experience of new build construction (on new build housing projects).
You will have excellent leadership skills in order to promote the company`s core values and culture.
You will have strong commercial awareness.
You will have the ability to formulate, write and submit detailed site reports and have proven ability to prioritise incoming works and the ability to manage on-site construction works to the highest standard possible.
You will have excellent knowledge in safety regulations appertaining to the construction industry. Ideally you will be a qualified First Aider.
You will have supervisory experience of tradespersons, and the ability to motivate and enforce western work practices and standards.
You will have the ability to motivate your team and be reliable and flexible.
You will have a high level of initiative, problem solving and decision making ability and will be someone who pays attention to the detail and highly organised.
You should possess excellent project management and communication skills in English and ideally one other language, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC literate with MS Office, e mail, the Internet.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Construction Site Manager looking for something different.
Salary will be in a range of between 75,000 - 95,000 New Zealand Dollars ( NZD ) for an experienced Site Manager. For a really experienced Site Manager who has handled multiple projects, salary will be in range of 90,000 - 115,000 NZD. A relocation package will be available to successful candidates.
