An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Chief Aircraft Engineer who is qualified with an HNC or higher in an engineering discipline. This Chief Aircraft Engineer must have an EASA License Full B2 avionic based engineer.

The Chief Aircraft Engineer will supervise and have overall control of all airframe/systems engineering aspects of the Aircraft Engineering Group, to meet the technical specification, internal quality requirements and the requirements of regulatory bodies. You will have line management of all personnel in the Continuing Airworthiness and Maintenance Organisation, covering hangar and workshop staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of airframe/systems engineering
Implementation of all engineering activities on aircraft, including servicing, modification and fault rectification
Supervision and line management of all engineering staff within the hangar and the workshop, including Simulation and UAS Services
To act as Maintenance Coordinator
Responsible for inspection duties associated
Recommendations for ARC renewals to the Civil Aviation Authority and EASA.
Supervision of technical records for Aircraft Engineering Group
Control of all aircraft and ground equipment movements within the hangar and apron area
Responsible for delivering technical solutions to meet schedule and man-hour budgets agreed in the statement of work
Responsible for the definition of procedures, processes and standards in the hangar and workshop environments
Provision of support to Business Development and Head of ASG in the specification and estimation of new projects, specifically estimating for aircraft maintenance, mechanical, electrical and avionics manufacture and installation
Control of all aircraft ground equipment maintenance, hangar and workshop facilities
Active participation as an Engineering Team member, in collaboration with the Design Team, to ensure designs meet technical specifications
To provide a professional approach to work as a member of the CAE team
Interfacing the hangar and workshop function with other CAE groups and departments

Qualifications
Qualified to HNC or higher in a relevant engineering discipline
GCSE / O Level Mathematics
EASA Licensed Full B2 avionic based engineer and permitted to issue certificates of release to service - 
EASA Part 66/145 and BCAR A8.23

Knowledge and Experience:
Must have previous experience within an aerospace maintenance and production organisation
Preferably with experience of working closely with an aerospace design organisation
Working knowledge of airframe and system design
Detailed knowledge of airworthiness regulations (e.g. EASA Part 145, Part M, BCAR A8.21, A8.23.
A8.25)
Knowledge and experience of working to ISO9001 quality standards
Knowledge of current avionic technologies and an ability to assess their suitability for application to current and emerging projects
Experienced in assembly and debugging of avionic and electrical systems
Good knowledge of aircraft mechanical and control systems
An appreciation of manufacturing and experience of working with suppliers for manufacture of prototypes and end products.

Skills and Personal Qualities:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team and meet challenging timescales
within budget and quality requirements
Ability to plan staff deployment effectively and efficiently
Ability to follow a clear, logical process methodically
Good level of numeracy
Good IT skills - particularly MS Word and MS Excel
Keen attention to detail for the tasks required, particularly with regard to the accuracy of documentation produced
Excellent presentation skills
Able to prioritise work and operate on multiple projects simultaneously
Must be an effective team player, but also have the ability and confidence to be able to work
autonomously
Capable of working diligently to meet deadlines
Be able to work under pressure
Willingness to tackle non-core tasks if requested
Strong commitment to the delivery of excellent quality outputs and delivery of customer service to both internal and external customers
