Our Client is a fast-growing SME in the radio communications sector with its head office based in North West London and with sites in Cheshire and Heathrow Airport. Its principal areas of business are systems design and installation, sales of equipment, equipment hire, repairs and maintenance and aerial and airtime rental.
They are currently seeking an IT Field Engineer to be nominally based at their site in North West London. The position is permanent and whilst this is a field role, candidates must live within 50 miles of North West London.
Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing an effective IT field service across a wide geographical area.
Specifically you will be responsible for the installation of IT Applications and Systems in the field.
You will install various radio products in the field.
You will provide technical assurance to customers in the field both on radio and IT infrastructure.
You will cover Pager duties in support of customer maintenance contracts.
You will maintain airside eligibility to support London Heathrow, Stansted and Southampton airports in support of the SITA maintenance contract.
You will assist with the preparation of tender documents when needed.
Finally you will prepare engineering reports as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ideally you will be an accomplished Radio Communications / Telecomms Engineer with strong IT experience, however as our client is very supportive to the ex-military community this role will appeal to an JNCO/ SNCO or similar from the RN or RAF, from a Technical background that is looking to join an expanding company where they can make a positive contribution in both the shorter and longer term and help drive their career forward.
You will have a good standard of education and your practical experience should ideally be supported by relevant RF / Engineering qualifications.
Technically you should have knowledge and experience of RF propagation experience • VHF / UHF radio • Cellular • Database Management • Network topologies • TCP / IP • Motorola software applications • Wireless • Fault finding across a multitude of telecomms platforms • MS office.
Knowledge and experience of PRM products, Sage X3, Axell Wireless Products, Path profile applications and exposure to WiFi , SATCOM and Fibre optics would all be very useful.
You should be process and procedure driven.
You should have excellent inter - personal and communications skills and good telephone skills.
You should have a keen eye for attention to detail.
You should be able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines able work under pressure.
You must be able to demonstrate flexibility in work patterns, a ‘’can do attitude’’ and be willing to travel.
You must be able to construct and deliver accurate reports and presentations to the Engineering Manager.
