They are currently seeking Distribution Shift Managers for their new DC in Essex. The roles are permanent.
Our clients new Distribution Centre in Essex is progressing to plan and it is now our clients intention to begin recruiting for a number of positions that will play a key role in ensuring that the site is ready to go live during 2015.
The site will be of great significance to our clients overall distribution network once fully operational and it is therefore imperative that they have the right number of appropriately trained Distribution Shift Managers in place prior to the site going live.
Reporting into the Distribution Manager, the successful candidates will assist the Distribution Manager in managing a team of around 100Drivers, typically with 80 + vehicles out delivering every day.
Specifically whilst on shift, you will be responsible for the day to day management and planning of the Distribution function, ensuring DC standards and targets are met.
You will have an input into Distribution Cost Budgets and will be required to manage the operation within budgeted costs
You will recruit, train and develop a team of direct reports.
You will be responsible for staff training and development plans and will establish/implement distribution centre succession plans.
You will ensure all Health & Safety and Legal obligations are adhered to and in line with Company policies and procedures and will ensure Group H&S policy is implemented and adhered to.
You will increase driver awareness to reduce accidents.
You will promote good customer service
You will ensure there is effective communication cascade (two-way).
You will be responsible for distribution centre security.
You will have an input into and implementation of Distribution and Operational strategy in line with distribution centre goals.
You will be responsible for the effective management of distribution assets.
You will ensure stock integrity.
You will ensure full compliance with current transport legislation.
You will ensure COD control and will ensure effective liaison with the telesales function.
Knowledge and Skills:
To be successful in your application you will be an accomplished Transport Manager and will have extensive experience of managing within a Distribution environment, be passionate about people and be committed to delivering a truly outstanding customer experience.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to translate our Client’s vision into how you and your transport team operate daily, as well as a hands on approach to succeed in a demanding environment.
This is a frontline role leading a large team of Drivers and transport support staff and championing excellence, which requires significant transport supervisory / management experience coupled with a sound grasp of current practice and transport legislation, ideally, though not essentially within a food distribution or retail environment.
A CPC is highly desirable but not essential.
As an experienced leader of people you will have the proactive ability to challenge existing practices and drive through change to benefit the business.
Excellent analytical, organisation and communication skills coupled with influencing skills and teamwork, will already have ensured your success as a supervisor or manager.
You should be IT/ PC / systems literate.
