We are working with an associate recruitment company who has offices in the UK, New Zealand, Australia and Ireland.  Their New Zealand Office has a leading multi-disciplinary professional consultancy client who is at the forefront of innovative infrastructure design, construction and asset management. With a global presence of 3,000 employees working from over 91 offices globally, they have a proud history and a strong future. They are currently seeking an Intermediate Engineer – Bridges and Structural Assets. 
The purpose of the role is to provide consultancy services to clients in the bridge/structural asset management, maintenance, refurbishment and strengthening projects.
You will undertake investigations, inspections and structural capacity assessments.
You will help solve clients problems though applying the appropriate analysis/design techniques and by thinking ‘outside the square’ and applying innovative solutions.
You will carry out appropriate refurbishment, strengthening and maintenance designs utilising skills with particular design packages with minimal supervision.
You will assist with the preparation of clear reports, technical specifications, designs and drawings.
You will carry out monitoring of physical works contracts and the provision of effective contract management.
You will undertake and/or arrange appropriate technical reviews and verification of projects and project deliverables.

Knowledge and Skills:

You will be an accomplished Civil/Structural Engineer (near Chartered) with your practical experience supported by a tertiary qualification in Structural / Civil Engineering (NZCE, BE or Diploma), or equivalent.
You will be experienced in carrying out investigations, inspections and structural capacity assessments.
You will be able to solve clients problems though applying the appropriate analysis/design techniques and by thinking ‘outside the square’ and applying innovative solutions.
You will be experienced in refurbishment, strengthening and maintenance designs utilising skills with particular design packages with minimal supervision.
You will have experience in the preparation of clear reports, technical specifications, designs and drawings.
You will have previous experience in monitoring physical works contracts and contract management experience.
You will have carried out technical reviews and verification of projects and project deliverables.
You will have a working knowledge of relevant standards, legislation and good practice relating to the design, construction and maintenance of bridges and structures.
You will ideally have a broad understanding of New Zealand and international best practice with regard to the management of bridges and structures.
You will have sound project management skills.
You will have knowledge of asset management including level of service, governance, data collection, optimisation and whole life costing and implementation.
You will have excellent communication ability, a natural ability to lead and a well presented and client facing manner.
You will have excellent inter personal skills, in order to promote the company’s core values and culture.
You will have a high level of initiative, problem solving and will be someone who pays attention to the detail and highly organised.
You will have excellent time management, analytical skills and organisation skills.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC literate with MS Office, e mail, the Internet and structural analysis and finite element software e.g. LUSAS, Microstran etc
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Civil/Structural Engineer looking for something different.
There is a preference for New Zealand experience, but our client welcomes interest from international applicants looking to make New Zealand their  home.
Candidates should show commitment of plans to relocate to New Zealand, for example they should have started the immigration process or to have plans of being in New Zealand for face to face meetings.
Basic salary will be in a range of between 80,000 – 110,000 NZD per annum depending experience.
Candidates must be able to pass drug and medical tests.
If successful, candidates will have to pay their own costs of getting across to New Zealand i.e.  Visa £85, flights approx. £800, possibly cheaper and also pay for their own accommodation.
