We are working with an associate recruitment company who has offices in the UK, New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. Their New Zealand Office has a construction company client who is seeking a Project Engineers. The positions are permanent.
The end client is a growing civil construction business with an excellent reputation for delivering quality work for the local council and the New Zealand Transport Agency. They have previously delivered other complex projects for the Transport Agency and building on this credibility they have been awarded a key project.
The project is upgrading the state highway network and widening the motorway and adding additional lanes, installation of safety systems and barriers, upgrade of the road interchanges and on/off ramps. The scope of works included major earthworks, drainage and pavement construction.
You should be able to support a culture of safety, through compliance with all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
You will maintain good relationships with the Project Team, client representatives, sub-contracts, foreman, consultants and the community, where appropriate delivering engineering services that meet the needs of relevant stakeholders.
You will ensure that an efficient, effective Engineering Service is provided through reading and understanding supply contracts and design specifications through to accurately relaying them to the team.
You will be measuring, recording and reporting on progress against program in allocated works packages.
You will advise the Project Manager of discrepancies and identifying variations in own work package.
You will be developing, planning and delivering works in line with temporary traffic staffing and stakeholder communications strategies.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Project Engineer with your practical experience supported by a Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (NZCE, BE or Diploma), or equivalent.
You will have significant civil construction experience, ideally with a Contractor.
You should be familiar with all aspects of safety, through compliance with all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
You will be able to form good relationships with the Project Team, client representatives, sub-contracts, foreman, consultants and the community, where appropriate delivering engineering services that meet the needs of relevant stakeholders.
You will have a good understanding of supply contracts and design specifications through to accurately relaying them to the team.
You will be experienced in the measuring, recording and reporting on progress against program in allocated works packages.
You will be experienced in developing, planning and delivering works in line with temporary traffic staffing and stakeholder communications strategies.
You should have strong experience in managing onsite construction and have NZTA project experience would be of great benefit.
You will have project experience across roading, drainage and earthworks will be a major advantage.
You will have the ability to programme and plan work which includes interfacing with several different parties.
You will have excellent communication ability, a natural ability to lead and a well presented and client facing manner.
You will have excellent inter personal skills, in order to promote the company’s core values and culture.
You will have a high level of initiative, problem solving and will be someone who pays attention to the detail and highly organised.
You will have excellent time management, analytical skills and organisation skills.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC literate with MS Office, e mail, the Internet.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Project Engineer looking for something different.
There is a preference for New Zealand experience, but our client welcomes interest from international applicants looking to make New Zealand their home.
Candidates should show commitment of plans to relocate to New Zealand, for example they should have started the immigration process or to have plans of being in New Zealand for face to face meetings.
Basic salary will be in a range of between 80,000 – 100,000 NZD per annum depending experience.
Candidates must be able to pass drug and medical tests.
If successful, candidates will have to pay their own costs of getting across to New Zealand i.e. Visa £85, flights approx. £800, possibly cheaper and also pay for their own accommodation.
