Our client is part of a much larger group and is a well-respected and renowned integrated remote site services company, offering construction, camp services, catering, management and supply of labour camps for the oil and gas, mining, construction, humanitarian and post conflict sectors.
These are usually in remote locations and often challenging environments, where everything has to be brought to site.
The breadth of capabilities are enormous, the company can contract to supply every conceivable need, from initial build, to power and water infrastructure to postal services and telecoms, medical services, security, cleaning, even pest control.
They are currently seeking an Arabic Speaking HR Manager to be based in Basrah, Iraq. This position is permanent on an open ended contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent and equitable administration of HR policies and procedures and guidelines to facilitate effective employee relations.
You will ensure compliance and will support generally to ensure the efficient operation of the project and contracts compliance.
You will also comply with corporate HR policies and procedures, as well as governmental rules and regulations and client, partner and government liaison at the camp level.
You will ensure the fair treatment of all Associates and the safety of residents, personnel, and corporate and client assets.
You will maintain confidentiality of all company policies and procedures.
You will assist staff as needed to support the project, to include boosting morale.
You will advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations` issues,
You will maintain a high level of knowledge of legal requirements such as provincial employment standards, common law and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions.
In collaboration with the Project/General Manager, you will ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
You will coach and counsel management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, investigation information gathering protocols and will manage internal investigations on matters of workplace harassment, alleged unfair treatment etc.
You will interpret and advise Managers on collective agreements, managing grievances and arbitrations, as well as participating in collective bargaining and union negotiations.
You will conduct regular exit interviews
You will oversee the process of maintaining accurate files and records in the HRMS.
You will maintain sector HR activity summary of any files that have the potential to lead to Ministry complaints, Human Rights complaints or litigation via the courts.
You will respond to enquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
You will provide general information on group benefit programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, HR plans, vacation, sick leave, leaves of absence and the employee assistance program.
In collaboration with the claims management team, you will assist with Return-to-work (RTW) process inclusive.
You will facilitate placements in accordance with medically supported accommodation requirements.
Finally you will assist in the collection and follow up of confidential self-identification surveys.
Knowledge and Skills:
The successful candidate should have a tertiary qualification in HR / Personnel or Business Administration and be an accomplished Arabic speaking HR Generalist ideally with their experience gained in an international multi-site organisation.
Ideally you will have worked for an international logistics or FM provider in post conflict, remote sites or other arduous environments.
You will have gained progressive experience in the development and implementation of HR programs which apply to the core areas of HR competence.
You should specifically have experience in labour relations e.g interpreting and advising Managers on collective agreements, participating in handling grievances / arbitrations, bargaining and negotiations.
You will have demonstrated experience consulting with managers at all levels on relevant HR issues and shown to be flexible, responsive with hands on operational HR experience.
You should have a grasp of broader business issues and the ability to initiate and deliver change in a way that engages our clients people.
In addition you should have a positive, professional and proactive approach and have the essential ability to communicate at all levels and a commitment to develop, both in terms of our client`s HR function and on a personal basis.
In addition you must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships within business units, demonstrate proven organisational ability and be PC / IT literate in Ms Office/Wo
