Our client is part of the Logistics Division of a major Middle East Group and a provider of transport and logistics solutions including shipping and freight forwarding within the Arabian Gulf and throughout The Middle East.
They are seeking an Operations Manager to be based in Muscat, Oman. This is a contract role on a 2 year renewable contract.
Reporting into the General Manager, the successful candidate will ensure accurate results in all aspects shipping and transport related operations.
You will ensure continuous review and improvements of operational processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
You will oversee daily monitoring efforts to ensure productivity objectives meet company/departmental standards.
You will maintain awareness of the business context and company profitability.
You will arrange daily/weekly meetings with staff as appropriate to review overall team/individual performance.
You will confirm all shipping deadlines and priority cut-off times are met.
You will ensure the process of tracking and maintaining productivity standards for each associate.
You will make sure that special instructions are followed and utilizing appropriate methods at all times.
You will control mis-ship and backorders and locating missing product as needed.
You will plan, direct and maximizing all inventory functions.
You will assist with strategy for new warehouse ventures.
You will authorize productivity tracking standards/assessments, supplies, and equipment needs.
You will develop personnel to ensure appropriate back up/successors in all key positions.
You will provide oversight while evaluating employee performance, handle disciplinary issues and maintaining an environment of respect and accountability.
You will assess individual assessment of each employee in his department on monthly basis and to provide reports on their performance.
You will meet all quality related functions as defined in the quality operations manual.
You will ensure all operations are carried out in accordance with our clients health and safety policies and procedures.
Finally you will provide monthly statistics report on the status of the open and closed Job files and also the revenue earned.
Knowledge and Skills:
To meet this unique challenge, you will be an ambitious transport operations professional ideally with experience in transport management, warehousing, logistics and supply chain and freight forwarding
With outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an immediate contribution.
Ideally you will have some experience of international transport operations, ideally gained in the GCC.
You must have a strong commitment to health and safety.
You must have excellent inter-personal and customer service skills. You must want to delight the customer!
You must be a team player and someone with a track record of developing staff.
A military background would be very useful.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English. The ability to speak some Arabic would be very useful. You will be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate. An international driving licence would be very useful.
