SW 8192: Electrical Maintenance Engineer - Power Station
Salary:£35,000-39,000 (Tax Free) DOE, plus allowances
My client is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer with experience of working in Power Stations to work on a remote island, mid Atlantic. Effectively a team leader in charge of the Electrical team (4 people) who distribute power, water and electricity around the Island (basically a utility provider). Hands on but with a leadership/management aspect. Obviously some mechanical knowledge is required.
The island has an excellent climate all year round, a zero crime rate and would suit someone who has an interest in game fishing or scuba diving. If you are to be accompanied there are schools available, additional allowances for family and the client will ship your belongings to the island. This is a 2 year fixed term contract.
Responsibilities & Desirable Experience:
*Experience of hands on operational work on high voltage switch gear
*Authorized person or ability to obtain that.
*Ideally team leadership experience
*Knowledge of diesel engine generators, and in particular Allens 12VS12 with Brush alternators.
*CMR Control Panels and Brush MAVR for each Generator. There is an Upgrade underway with two Control Panels and AVR`s due to be replaced later this year. The new Control will be from panels provided for W H Allen by Petrotech and will incorporate Brush A32 AVRs.
*Vacuum switchgear used.
*At Power Station:- GEC VMX Solenoid closing.
*At Transmitting Station Igranic Vacuum Switchgear.
*On the Network there are examples of:-
*Yorkshire SO-HI
*Schneider MG SF6 RMU`s, both main types and some Isolators
GEC Long and Crawford SF6 Filled RMU`s,
*Lucy Oil Filled RMU`s.
*Wind Farm Units (5 off) use Ormazabal Vacuum Switchgear.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
*A recognised engineering qualification ie. HNC or higher etc.
*Experience/background of working in a Power Station is desirable, but working with power supply/generation is essential.
A full breakdown of allowances etc will be available to those who meet the criteria above, but needless to say that they will cover all accommodation and living costs during your stay on the island and include either one return flight a year for those that are accompanied or two flights a year if unaccompanied.
