Art, Drama and Music are especially strong, and the School has a national reputation for Sport. Due to continued success of the School, they now seek to recruit an experienced Chef. The role is permanent.
Reporting directly to the Catering Manager the duties of the School Chef will be wide and varied. As the School Chef your main responsibilities will be to prepare, assemble and cook all menu dishes, providing high quality food for the customers. You will embrace the School ethos, and be prepared to go beyond the call of duty on a regular basis.
You will provide menu choices of freshly prepared food which are agreed to by line managers and are nutritionally balanced.
You will provide the highest quality service to pupils, staff, parents and guests in line with the schools standing.
You will be proactive in terms of menu development and new ideas.
You will ensure all food is stored, handled and packed at the correct temperature, and in accordance with food handling and hygiene regulations.
To ensure the quality and presentation of daily menus and hospitality catering is to the highest standard.
You will comply with all health and safety legislation.
You will liaise on a day to day basis with Matron/Lunch Supervisor to ensure standards are being met and needs of the children addressed.
You will manage, lead, motivate and inspire the catering team to over achieve on a day to day basis.
You will manage both the kitchen and the front of house provision, including staffing, cleanliness, appearance and hygiene.
You will listen to all comments, and deal with them as appropriate, or pass on to a more senior member of staff to ensure prompt action is taken.
You will prepare and produce all requirements for special school functions and evening events which may sometimes be outside normal working hours.
You will assist and supervise the general cleaning of the kitchen, maintaining high standards of hygiene.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Chef, competent and skilled to work in all areas of food preparation, cooking and service.
You will have attained a minimum catering qualification of City & Guilds 706 1-2 or equivalent.
You must have strong organisational skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
You must have a flexible approach to work and be motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery.
You will have a good knowledge of computers and the Microsoft Office Package.
You must possess a Full UK Driving Licence.
In return our client is offering a salary of £18,176 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
