Description :
In collaboration with the Head of Testing, the Senior Automation Test Lead will be responsible for defining and implementing an automation strategy supporting cross functional project teams, designed to support regression testing and release cycles. Working within the IT Test Team, alongside business analysts, developers and project managers, undertaking testing of software developed for internal and external clients, ensuring the software performs the functions as required to produce the required end result.

To deliver high quality testing, test documentation and test result interpretation in a timely manner and contribute towards the upholding of existing and establishment of new system documentation, procedures and standards including test plans.

Key Responsibilities:

*Define and implement an automation test strategy in line with business goals, reporting to the Head of Testing with progress and updates of strategy and implementation deliverables.
*Develop and maintain a test automation suite, reusable components and functional libraries
*Design, develop, execute and maintain automated and manual test scripts.
*Undertake the testing of new applications and enhancements to existing applications based on the latest department standards and testing best practices.
*Implement a method of carrying out black box testing - i.e. software testing from the point of view of a user.
*Identify, communicate & document discrepancies encountered during testing.
*Develop, enhance, support and perform testing using new or existing automation framework for testing suites (such as Selenium WebDriver or similar products).
*Support automated script development and execution within scrum teams.
*Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders and scrum team.
*Where appropriate write realistic test plans to focus on critical and essential functionality, to ensure testing time available is used as efficiently as possible.
*To adopt an organised and methodological approach to testing and fully document the process and outcome.
*Setting up required test data and monitor the performance of software tested.
*Develop and maintain automated testing environments for development and execution
*Design, develop and maintain dynamic test data creation
*Create and maintain technical documentation relating to standard test plans for specific business areas.
*To be aware of and understand the objectives of the department and understand how the work of this role contributes to the achievement of these objectives.


Skill Requirements:

*Strong understanding of QA methodology and the software development life­cycle.
*Minimum of 5 years of software quality assurance experience with a focus on web based applications and APIs.
*Minimum of 3 years Automation testing experience using Selenium WebDriver
*Ability to code using JAVA with knowledge of Cucumber, Jenkins and Soap UI
*Experience of implementing and developing an automation framework
*Experience of building and executing automated tests with Selenium.
*Experience developing tests for functional and regression testing that includes automated, ad­hoc, and manual.
*Good understanding of OOP concepts, web services automation and test automation.
*Familiar with all types of testing within an agile environment.
*Experience testing software and web applications in an agile (scrum) environment.
*Experience of web standards and experience of testing REST and SOAP APIs
*Familiarity of various test and defect management tools (Bugzilla, JIRA).
*Understanding of the requirements involved in software testing with strong analytical and empirical skills.
*Experience in the testing of web based applications across multiple browsers.
*Excellent understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
*High attention to detail with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
*Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
*Awareness of structure, functions and business environment of the organisation.
*Meticulous approach to working and attention to detail, practical and systematic approach to testing.
*Strong organisational skills and effective time management.
*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work within a team.
*Committed to providing excellent standards of customer service.
*Ability to work independently and contribute well within a team.
*Ability to quickly adapt within a fast changing environment.

Desirable Requirements:

*ISTQB Certified
*Educated to Degree level
*Programming background
*Experience with Java
*Experience with J-Unit framework
*Strong SQL skills
