Our Client is a fast-growing SME in the radio communications sector with its head office based in North West London and with sites in Cheshire and Heathrow Airport. Its principal areas of business are systems design and installation, sales of equipment, equipment hire, repairs and maintenance and aerial and airtime rental.
They are currently seeking a Radio Engineer role to be based at their site in North West London. The position is permanent.
Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will work on private mobile radio, trunked radio and Motorola wireless products to provide bespoke technical solutions for customers and SME on all product programming.
Your main responsibilities will include the Preparation of CODEPLUGS/FLEET Plans for customer requirements • Provide Technical assurance to customers • Preparation of engineering reports as required •Design and build of bespoke technical solutions in line with customer requirements.
Knowledge and Skills:
This role will appeal to an ex-military Radio Technician or individuals who have worked within the signals environment with equivalent qualifications from the Royal Navy or RAF and since leaving the Services gained knowledge of Motorola products.
You will have sound PMR experience and able to prepare products for customers, including programming the equipment.
Ideally your practical experience will be supported by some IT qualifications and relevant radio repair qualifications.
You will in general have strong IT experience specifically: RF Propagation experience •
PMR programming software - Specifically Tait, Simmoco, Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM and Hytera. Trunk Radio (MPT1327) database management • COTS radio repair down to component level. Namely Tait, Simmoco, Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM and Hytera.
You should be flexible and resourceful, able to cope under pressure and have a “ can do” attitude.
You should be process and procedure driven and have excellent communication, customer facing and inter-personal skills.
You should have good planning and organisational skills with attention to detail, able to prioritise work and meet services deadlines.
You should be able to forge technical relationships with suppliers.
This role would ideally suit someone who is looking to join an expanding and developing company and where they can make a positive contribution in both the shorter and longer terms.
You should be IT / PC literate and have a full UK Drivers Licence.
Depending on qualifications and experience, the basic salary range offered will be between £25,000 – 35,000 per annum.
Other benefits include a company vehicle, 21 days paid holiday rising to 25 accruing from length of service plus bank and public holidays, life assurance of 4 times basic salary, compulsory pension provision etc.
The position is subject to obtaining a satisfactory DBS check.
