SW 3793: Plant Operator
Salary: £20,000-£25,000 DOE
Location: Mid-Cornwall
My client wishes to appoint a Plant Operator for their renewable energy plant in mid-Cornwall. It is managed and operated to the very highest standards and presents an opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual wishing to become involved in a fast expanding and relatively new part of the sustainable energy sector. Working as part of a team of three, you will work on a rota basis and the role involves some on-call / out of hours working. As Plant Operator you will be responsible for supporting the effective and efficient running of the plant.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Plant Manager in the day to day running of the plant including routine monitoring
- Hands on role in managing deliveries, storage and loading into digestion plant using a telehandler
- Plant optimisation
- Minor electrical maintenance including mechanical and electrical fault repairs on pumps and motors (training will be provided)
- Monitoring IT control systems and responding accordingly
- Adhering to, monitoring and responding appropriately to site processes and procedures
- Weighbridge operation
- Health and Safety implementation and compliance
- Maintaining good staff and resident liaison – good communication skills essential.
- General housekeeping – keeping the site clean, safe and presentable.
- At times you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the plant and emergency call out.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Ideally, experience working on similar operational sites or in a farming/agricultural environment
- As a minimum, proven maintenance experience on plant / machinery. Some electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications/background would be an advantage.
- IT literate with good numerical, analytical and diagnostic skills.
- Previous experience of operating plant machinery ie.tractor driving/telehandler/forklift.
- Good understanding of health and safety (in a farming, construction or similar industry).
- Proven ability to work to timelines and good time management skills.
- A positive, proactive and dedicated approach to their work.
- Ability to interpret data to maximise output and solve process issues.
- Attention to detail and a practical can do attitude.
- Resilience and drive and the ability to work under own initiative and sometimes out-of-hours.
