Our client is part of a global group and provides heavy equipment transportation services to the British Army in peacetime and during conflict operations.
They are currently seeking Driver / HET Operators who must become Sponsored Reservists. The positions are permanent and located in Wiltshire.
These vacancies are nationwide (excluding Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) but locations are dependent on current vacancies. A willingness to be flexible, work away from home and commitment to serve overseas on operational tours is essential.
Work will be divided between driving our client`s new fleet of specialist military vehicles and civilian HGV vehicles based in your home region; this is a home based role.
Please note this is a permanent position paying a guaranteed monthly salary as indicated.
The primary purpose of the role is to operate and drive Oshkosh HET`s and civilian vehicles to a high level of professionalism, adhering to all relevant legislation, regulations and company policies and procedures. In addition, an integral part of the role is to be a TA Sponsored Reservist.
You will provide military capability on operations as well as delivering armour during peacetime and at other times you will work as a contracted Driver to our client.
All applicants will have to undergo a comprehensive medical and fitness / strength tests. Therefore, interested applicants should be of good health and physically fit.
Knowledge and Skills:
To be considered for this role you must hold a British passport, eligible to join the Territorial Army and be willing to become and remain a Sponsored Reservist (SR) and uphold the commitments as an SR.
You will be a highly professional driver with a strong sense of company and team loyalty.
You should be qualified C+E (HGV 1), with experience of driving articulated vehicles and have not more than 6 penalty points on your licence. Training will be provided (6 weeks).
You should have a good understanding of how to apply Drivers Hours and Tachograph regulations.
ADR licence is desirable but not essential.
You must be extremely trustworthy and responsible, able to work alone and as part of a team.
You must be intimately familiar with and adhere to road traffic and vehicle laws and regulations.
If you have previously served in the Royal Air Force (RAF), Royal Navy or Army (TA or Regular) then this is advantageous.
This is a salaried position with an annual basic salary of £27,320 pa for an average working week of 48 hours averaged over a 17 week reference period.
In addition, there is a Territorial Army bounty payable and uplifts and allowances depending upon deployment to theatre. On target earnings can be up to £47,466pa depending upon the time spent on deployment.
In addition, there are 28 days` holiday including bank and public holidays increasing to 33 days over 5 years, Stakeholder pension, Life assurance etc.
If you have an HGV maintenance background, there is also the opportunity to combine the Driver / HET Operator role with an HGV Mechanic / Maintainer role (see separate job advert). This duel role attracts an annual basic salary of £31,310 pa plus the same TA bounty and uplifts and allowances.
