Our client is one of the UK`s leading independent Foodservice Wholesalers supplying multi temperature products to foodservice clients throughout the UK. They are proud of their heritage and their business wide focus on providing excellent customer service.

They are currently seeking a Transport Supervisor for a new depot operation to be based in Buckinghamshire, close to the M40 motorway. The position is permanent.
Reporting into the Operations and Transport Manager (OTM), you will assist them in the day to day running of the transport department.
Initially this will be a relatively small operation commencing on day one of around 13 vehicles but this will soon increase in size.
Similarly, initially it will be only stocking around 400 product lines with a cross -decking operation with stock being trunked in from our client`s national distribution centre located in the East Midlands.
After a period of time it will become a more fully stocked and will then have a full warehouse team including dayshift and nightshift operations,
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing and well respected company.
You will assist the OTM in establishing and then managing the day to day running of the Transport Office.
You will assist the OTM in controlling the routes by allocating vehicles and drivers, ensuring all routes are loaded and leave on time and monitor and maintain the delivery requirements of our Clients various customers throughout each delivery day.
You will in conjunction with the OTM ensure that all Drivers are debriefed on return from daily activity to ascertain if any difficulties were encountered and you will proactively manage any customer service issues raised as part of the debriefing process.
You will have joint responsibility for ensuring all employees act in compliance with our Clients procedures, Department of Transport and Working Time Regulations.
You will promote Health and Safety best practice ensuring regular checks are carried out.
You will be expected to effectively manage resourcing levels through efficient control of absence/holidays and agree targets and standards which support the achievement of the Company`s objectives.
Finally, you will be expected to assist the OTM managing the demands of the operation dealing with problems that may arise in a professional, effective manner whilst ensuring employee communication is regularly monitored. 
You will also provide advice and support to working colleagues in an approachable manner along with ensuring employees are aware and adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
As in any successful management position, the development and motivation of the team around you is essential, as is the on-going strengthening of customer relationships.

Knowledge and Skills:
To succeed, you should have operations / transport management experience within a fast moving wholesaling or time sensitive environment, ideally gained within the foodservice sector.
Demonstrating good leadership, communication and motivational skills, you will plan and organize all transport activities, manage all transport staff and forge good working relationships with customers.
You should have in-depth transport supervisory / management experience, coupled with a sound grasp of current practice and transport legislation.
A CPC is desirable and the sort of proactive approach that will keep our Client`s transport department moving forward. 
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential as you must be able to deal with customer queries.
You should be self-motivated, someone who can inspire others with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities.
You will combine ambition with a flexible outlook and have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities.
You should possess strong pc skills.
You will be a motivated self-starter with strong team building principles.
You will be flexible and committed to providing excellence in all aspects, with a keen eye for detail.
You should be able to demonstrate a pro-active approach when planning and able to react to day to day challenges
