Description :

Our Client is a privately owned international logistics, construction, procurement and facilities management provider.
They are specialists in providing their services in mining, oil and gas, post conflict, remote and other arduous environments.
Evolving from early roots in Africa over 40 years ago, our client has substantial experience providing integrated solutions and delivering comprehensive projects in mining, oil and gas and post conflict zones and developing countries and remote locations worldwide.
Headquartered in Dubai, they began serving clients in Afghanistan in 2002 and in the years since has grown into a large multifaceted firm, employing over 1,000 staff from 27 different nations. Today they manage projects in such locations as North Sudan, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Chad, Uganda and Somalia. They are currently seeking a French speaking Deputy Project Manager to be based in the Central African Republic, Africa. The contract is initially for 12 months with extensions depending upon performance.
As Deputy Project Manager, and reporting into the Project Manager, you will work with the Project Manager closely to ensure the smooth running of the project.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Scheduling; assigning staff; allocating resources; assessing risk and its management; coordinating the various components which contribute to the project as a whole to ensure they are being delivered on time; ensuring that deadlines are met; and updating staff and keeping all interested parties in the project informed of progress and any issues which may arise.
Specifically, you will prepare work plan and schedule each phase of the engineering project to which you are assigned and be responsible for day to day operation of project, assigns duties, responsibilities and performance goals.
You will co-ordinate with Project Manager and Manager - Planning and Control in selecting equipment and machinery required for projects, prepares program for optimum utilization.
You will ensure that Site Engineers adhere to performance goals at each stage of the project, ensures performance goals are attained within the time and cost limitations established.
You will respond to customer questions and complaints to ensure quality customer service and relationships are developed and maintained.
You will prepare project status reports, inform the Project Manager of any changes in scope of work that would affect the schedule or cost, and you prepare supplemental fee proposals as required.
You will initiate payment requests for the Project Manager approval to ensure the fulfilment of contract requirements.
Finally, you will ensure delivery of complete contract documents to the client in a timely and professionally manner.
 
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Civil Engineer ideally with MEP experience.
Your practical experience should ideally be supported by a Degree in Civil Engineering.
Experience of working in Africa is highly desirable.
You should have a good level of knowledge of water and sewer utility design, construction and regulatory guidelines and requirements.
You will have an understanding of sewer collection and water distribution system design, pressure pipe design, pump station design, and hydraulic modelling.
You will have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
You will be able to read blueprints, floor plans and design data and able to read and interpret Industry standard regulations.
You will be experienced in budgeting/cost control.
You will be able to manage, organize, plan and implement work assignments, juggle competing demands and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines.
You will have strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relationships with people in multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect of diversity.
You will have a commitment to continuous learning - willing to keep abreast of new developments in working environment.
You should possess effective cost, quality and time management skills. You should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
Finally, you should be pc literate, e.g. MS office plus AutoCAD, Water/Sewer CAD and hydraulic modelling and you should also possess a Drivers Licence.
