Kneesworth House offers purpose built services with medium secure, low secure, and both locked and open rehabilitation opportunities.

The wide range of care settings maximises the opportunity for patients to have step down pathways and move easily between care settings to whatever level of security is most appropriate for their care. In addition to ward-based living and activity areas there is patient engagement opportunity in varied occupational therapy facilities. Patients here report high levels of satisfaction. Four residential houses afford a clear step down pathway for patients.

The role:

  • Ensuring a high standard of maintenance is achieved in all areas.
  • Ensuring that all aspects of health and safety and operational policies are adhered to.
  • Supporting the ordering and completion of PPM checks on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Co-ordinating and supporting contractors whilst on site.
  • Reviewing daily work sheets and prioritising tasks accordingly
  • Participating in an on-call system for the purposes of emergency maintenance.      
  • Previous experience working in maintenance or building role along with a good understanding of health and safety legislation is desirable.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative and follow instructions.
  • Ability to respond to the needs of the service in respect of preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and repairs with due regard for the safety of patients, staff and public.

The post holder will:

  • Undertake other reasonable duties and training as required
  • Be aware of and comply with all company policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Comply with the provisions of the Health and Safety at work Act 1974 with regard to health and welfare of patients, staff and visitors
  • Have a sound knowledge of maintenance procedures
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Be a good team player
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Be conscientious
  • Be flexible and adaptable
  • Hold a current full driving licence

Qualifications/Experience:

  • All-round knowledge of building trades
  • Full driving licence (essential)
  • PAT testing certificate (desirable)
