Description :

Mill Garth is a 21 bed locked rehabilitation and recovery service for men requiring an integrated treatment approach focusing on active rehabilitation in order to progress into future community placements. Mill Garth provides this care and treatment for males with a mental illness and / or personality disorder.

Mill Garth is a new service and is looking to recruit a full time position.

We are currently looking for one Registered Forensic or Clinical Psychologist to join our new service. The successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of psychological services.

This role will include working with patients who present with a range of mental health needs, including mental illness, personality disorders and cognitive deficits. You will be involved in both assessment and treatment, including the use of structured risk assessment measures and one-to-one and group-based interventions relating to a range of needs such as problem solving, substance misuse, anger control treatment, history of offending behaviour, trauma, grief and loss, anxiety management and relapse prevention. Approaches used within individual therapy will largely employ a CBT approach, though opportunities also exist in relation to other models including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Schema Focused Therapy.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team you will assist with the development, delivery and evaluation of the evidence-based interventions, in order to comply with best practice principles. Your role may also incorporate staff training, research and supervision of Trainee Forensic Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists. You will also be involved in the governance structure of the hospital as part of the clinical team.

You will have the ability to apply psychological knowledge to a rehabilitation and recovery setting, adopting a systematic approach and responding flexibly to both the treatment requirements of mentally disordered individuals and the complexities associated with organisational settings.

You will have full registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).  Some post-registration experience is desirable, though not essential. Experience of working with patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) is advantageous.
