Set back within landscaped gardens in a secluded part of Southgate, the tranquil environment of the Priory Hospital North London specialises in the treatment of mental health problems including addiction rehabilitation.

Offering calming and recovery focused residential treatment for up to 50 service users, including separate facilities for up to 18 young people, personalised treatment programmes are delivered by our multidisciplinary team alongside the use of a range of therapies.

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Activities Coordinators to join our dynamic and enthusiastic CAMHS team. The roles will involve facilitating the evening (4pm-9pm) and weekend (1pm-6pm) activities programme on the Adolescent wards. Experience working with adolescents both individually and in groups, or experience working in a mental health setting is desirable. Experience working within a specific therapy modality (e.g. DBT, CBT) would be an advantage.

Applicants will be required to:

  • Provide activities that the individuals will enjoy and also expand their range of experiences and skills.
  • Ensure the safety of the individuals at all times whilst enabling people who use our service to undertake activities of their choice           
  • Provide opportunities for mental and physical stimulation
  • Provide activities that are tailored to the needs and abilities of the individual, while also providing group activities that will bring the individuals together.
  • Find the balance between arranging activities that the individuals like doing and activities that will expose the individuals to new experiences
  • Adhere to all Priory North London policies and procedures, including compliance with Health and Safety and Security regulations.
  • Keep up-to-date with any changes to policies, procedures or regulations that affect the service.
  • Fulfil any duties requested by your manager.
  • Take responsibility for the safe working environment for yourself, colleagues and the people who use our service.
  • Present the service in a positive light and be proactive in making suggestions for how to improve the service.
  • Take responsibility for your own personal development and attendance at training both mandatory and service specific.

What Does The Job Holder Have To Do?

  • Communicate with the individuals about what activities they would like to do.
  • Prepare, plan and implement a schedule of activities and tasks for the individuals.
  • Arrange activities that are tailored to the needs and abilities of the people we support, both individually and group.
  • Engage the young people on the unit in helpful, therapeutic and meaningful activity.
  • Provide assistance and support for individuals in attending classes and groups.
  • Ensure that all necessary materials are available for activities.
  • Where appropriate teach the individuals skills for life, such as budgeting, travel (i.e. on public transport), cooking, shopping, finding a job etc.
  • Arrange transport and accommodation for individuals` outings where necessary.
  • Liaise with external suppliers in order to provide entertainment and activities, for example, singers, bands, community access groups etc.
  • Complete risk assessments in order to manage the risks enabling the people who use our service to undertake activities of their choice.
  • Communicate all necessary information during handover.
  • Documentation: Document the aims and objectives of each activity, and record in individual clinical notes.
  • Reading, signing and actioning all new policies and communications.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedure
