Salary: £30,000 (rising to £32,000 after 6 months)
An opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Technician to provide support for various mobile crane products which are supplied into the MOD. The specific type of cranes worked on is re-fitted onto Warrior Fighting Vehicles (Warrior 512 or Warrior 513).
The successful candidate will have a heavy plant engineering background and have extensive knowledge of stripping and refurbishing, and will be required to provide after sales care during the machine trials once delivered back to the customer.
Applications from ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this role and are strongly encouraged.
Responsibilities of the role include:
· Inspection and report on condition and completeness of cranes as received;
· Strip crane and pack certain parts ready for shipment to specialist sub-contractors;
· Maintain a log of shipments and subsequent return of parts ensuring they are satisfactory;
· Strip and refurbish hook-block, slew ring, control valve, hoist unit and slew unit;
· Manufacture new wiring harnesses, and repair electrical junction boxes and limit switches;
· Assemble each crane on a test rig and conduct a specified series of function and load tests;
· Maintain a log book for each crane to record each stage of repair and test;
· Strip the crane from the test rig and pack ready for return to our customer’s site;
· Provide customers with high quality after sales support;
· Produce fast effective service in line with purchase order requirements;
· Assist with the development of products sales.
Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:
Essential:
· Extensive Electrics, Hydraulics, Mechanical and Pneumatics knowledge
· Flexible approach to working hours
Desirable:
· Welding experience
· CPCS card
· HGV license
· Industry knowledge
· Proactive and customer focused
· Health & Safety at work
· Maintaining of Company’s and ISO Standards

The successful technician will receive full in-house training and will be part of a small team working to tight deadlines, producing high standard of work in order to meet the MOD requirements. If required, a full set of hand tools will be provided by our client. You will work Monday to Friday but will be expected to have a flexible working attitude.
