The Company and the Role:
We are working directly for an associate recruitment and HR consultancy based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
They currently have a number of clients who are seeking Site Engineers- Roads and Highways to work in New Zealand. The roles are permanent.
The work will be in Auckland and Christchurch although opportunities do exist in other parts of New Zealand.
You may remember that in February 2011, Christchurch NZ was damaged by a major earthquake.
Christchurch is now being rebuilt and this involves spending $30bn to $40bn over the next 5 - 10 years. The new city plan looks fantastic http://ccdu.govt.nz/ but there is still lots of work to do.
Key Features of the Role:
As a Site Engineer – Roads and Highways you will be part of a team re-configuring roads, bus lanes and cycle ways and interchanges where new motorways connect to the City etc.
You will take some of the responsibility for security, health and safety, and organising and supervising materials and people.
You will liaise with government officials, contractors and sub-contractors of the Client, its Representatives, and any Consultants.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ideally with a Degree / Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline or hold relevant trade qualifications from a recognised trade, training college / school or university.
In seeking applications our client is looking for Site Engineers that have gained that solid base of experience in Road & Highways and can demonstrate good technical skills, all round computer systems knowledge and strong attention to detail.
You should ideally have design experience in completing design reports, design layouts, specifications and detailed construction drawings.
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be interfacing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally, you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC literate with MS Office, E mail and the Internet. Experience of AutoCAD,12d or civil 3d skills would be advantageous

What’s on Offer?
Salary will typically be in a range of 100,000 – 120,000 New Zealand Dollars (NZD) for an experienced Site Engineer – Roads And Highways.
Most vacancies will come with Kiwisaver.
Candidates are expected to fund their own relocation and should therefore have around £2000-£3000 available to cover flight costs, visa costs and relocation costs etc.
