Description :

Providing quality, inspiring innovation and  delivering value is what we set out to achieve at Priory Healthcare. Enabling our patients with mental health difficulties to receive a truly integrated and holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity, thanks to the knowledge and expertise of our multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Annesley House is a low secure and locked recovery and rehabilitation service for women aged 18 years or older with a primary condition of mental illness and personality disorder. We work with women who are stepping down from secure services, or stepping up from community or other inpatient rehabilitation care.

Our High Dependency Unit supports patients who are of high risk to themselves and need more intensive care than is required in a standard inpatient rehabilitation unit.

Annesley House comprises of:

Durham ward - a low secure continuing care ward for women
Cambridge ward - a high dependency ward for women
Oxford ward - a community facing inpatient rehabilitation ward for women

The role:

The Regional Lead Psychologist will take the lead on the coordination and delivery of psychological assessment and treatment for the specified region. The role will focus on the strategic development and deployment of psychological services as well as having clinical and managerial components.

Clinically, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and provision of psychological services within the clinical team (both direct and indirect). Direct provision of psychology input within the services is likely to be primarily through two routes:

  • Inputting into the initial and ongoing development of the clinical/forensic services
  • Providing direct and indirect delivery of clinical/forensic psychology services, as part of assessment and treatment delivery to those within the unit.

You will act as the co-ordinator of these services within identified clinical teams and act as the overall psychology lead for ongoing regular clinical provision.  In addition it is expected that you will have a developed area of clinical/ psychological expertise and act as a main resource within the service for psychological information on this identified area

What we need from you:

Working within secure services, you should have considerable knowledge and skills of both forensic and clinical psychology as applied to this patient group.  This includes having considerable experience of working in a secure clinical/forensic setting with offenders with a range of forensic mental health issues and diagnoses.  You should be able to act autonomously in the development and implementation of agreed clinical methods of working within the service; directly co-ordinate and supervise other members of staff; identify service priorities across your area of responsibility; contribute to policy development locally/corporately and undertake training needs analyses and the development of training implementation.  You should have good organisational ability and be able to work well within a structured assessment and treatment process.  You will have the skills to be an active member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, including being able to co-ordinate and manage the provision of psychology input within that context. This will include undertaking direct clinical input through participating fully in developing and providing services to patients within their clinical area.

The post will require the successful post holder to have on-call responsibilities as part of the regional Senior Management Team, and will also provide opportunities to be involved in other managerial tasks as required.

Opportunities for CPD will be available, and the successful post holder will join a successful team who in the past year have won four national awards and published a number of peer reviewed research papers.
