Ellingham hospital is a 35 bedded hospital offering assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to young people within the age range of 12 to 25 years old. Cherry oak ward is a low secure 10 bedded mixed unit and caters specifically to the needs of young people who are experiencing significant mental health difficulties and also demonstrate some level of functional impairment, which may be attributable to a learning disability, a neurodevelopmental diagnosis (e.g. autism, ADHD). Woodlands is a  15 beds adolescent mixed ward catering specifically for young people who are experiencing significant mental health difficulties and also demonstrate some level of functional impairment, which may be attributable to a learning disability, a neurodevelopmental diagnosis (e.g. autism, ADHD), or another neurological issue (e.g. brain injury).  Redwood ward is a 10 bedded ward for young adult age 18 to 65 years old with an acute mental health problem. The hospital is supported by a robust multi-disciplinary team of professionals including psychiatrist, psychologist speech & language therapist, Occupational therapist, nurses, social worker and a family therapist. There is also an Ofsted registered school on site supporting the young people with their education.

The role:

We are looking for a keen and resourceful Occupational Therapist to join our OT team. The role is to be the named OT for Redwood ward, our Adult acute mental health ward, but with provision to support the Occupational Therapist across our CAMHS service where required.

Using the MOHO framework, you will undertake OT assessments, interventions and evaluations for a designated caseload. You will work closely with the other OT on site and form part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will be able to facilitate a flexible programme of OT groups and individual interventions as part of our tiered integrated group programme.

You must have good personal organisational skills and accomplishment to lifelong learning.

You will have current HPC registration and full BAOT membership with evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

This role is mainly working between Monday – Friday. You are also expected to work long days to accommodate evening groups within the hospital and occasional weekend provision.
