Ty Catrin is a low secure mental illness and personality disorder service for men and women who require a medium-term placement and recovery-orientated specialist treatment in order to progress on their care pathway towards rehabilitation care.
The facility is split into six wards along with semi-independent flats onsite
The role:
General
- To be responsible for providing purposeful, structured therapy activities under the guidance and supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- To be responsible for the maintenance of equipment and stock and recommend the need for new items.
- To carry responsibility for handling and monitoring petty cash, ensuring that hospital policy is followed with respect to the ordering and safekeeping of this and that receipts are obtained for all purchases.
- To liaise with internal / external agencies to ensure timely provision of patient services.
- To act in a manner at all times that promotes professionalism and demonstrates a positive role model to patients.
- Undertake general administration tasks as directed.
- To attend internal and external meetings as directed.
- To ensure that hospital policies and procedures are complied with at all times.
- To work within the guidelines and standards set by the College of Occupational Therapists and the British Association of Occupational Therapists.
Clinical
- To observe general behaviour, ability and response of patients, recording and relaying information as requested to supervisor.
- To work collaboratively to ensure that patient interventions are provided alongside clinical programmes.
- To obtain information from patients regarding their interests and skills.
- To use acquired skills and techniques with groups and individual patients as directed, making adaptations and modifications that will improve patient performance.
- To assist with recording of patient contact, progress and functional ability, contributing to assessment procedure as required.
- To be aware of patient`s needs.
- To adhere to patient`s identified treatment plans.
- To work within the aims and objectives established by individual Occupational Therapists.
Health and Safety
- To co-operate in implementing the requirements of all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation related to Codes of Practice and Safety instructions.
- To be aware of current risk status of patients to facilitate safe working practices.
Training
- To participate in regular supervision sessions and the organisation`s appraisal system.
- To complete mandatory and statutory training on an annual basis.
- To identify training and development opportunities in liaison with the Deputy Therapy Services Manager.
