Kneesworth House is a 155 bed mental health hospital situated in Hertfordshire (on the borders of Cambridgeshire) with good commuting access to / from London. The hospital has a full pathway of care including medium, low secure, locked rehabilitation and open recovery wards  situated across the site.

The role:

To be responsible for the reception area, to operate the hospital`s security air lock system in adherence with Departmental Procedures. To ensure that all keys are correctly monitored using the key pass systems and logging systems. To receive and process all calls efficiently.  

Our (Weekend Secure Receptionist) role involves:

  • To operate the hospital`s security (airlock system in adherence with Departmental Procedures)
  • To be responsible for all operational keys ensuring all security logs are completed in a timely manner
  • To be responsible for ensuring all Agency and Bank staff follow and understand all security procedures before allocation of keys
  • To provide a full Reception Service and provide consistency between the 24 hour Reception Team
  • Be responsible for greeting all visitors to Kneesworth House Secure Services in a professional manner. All visitors, service users and staff will be treated courteously with dignity and respect at all time
  • Ensure all visitors and staff adhere to the hospital security procedures. To challenge where required all visitors and staff on aspects of security in a professional and courteous manner
  • Manage and issue the Personal Alarms, keys and other equipment from Reception, ensuring that accurate records are kept and monitored. Ensure that batteries are available, fully charged and report any faults to the required authorities
  • To act as the main point of contact for  fire alarms and medical emergencies in line with Hospital Procedures
  • To be able to broadcast messages in a clear precise manner using the hospital radio system. Ensure all paperwork is correct and correct logs are completed
  • Be responsible for manning the switchboard , receiving  and  processing all calls quickly, courteously  and efficiently
  • To take room bookings for all visits and meetings held on the Secure Wards using the appropriate diary and electronically.  
  • Contact on - call staff when required using the hospital`s pager system
  • Liaise with the hospital driver as a point of contact for all transport needs. Recording and logging the hospital pool vehicles when leaving site, ensuring all necessary paperwork has been completed by the pool car driver
  • Book and record all taxies used by the hospital
  • Fax documents on behalf of the Secure Wards and Pharmacy
  • Responsible for all post and daily newspapers delivered to the hospital ensuring they are distributed to the correct wards
  • Create all patient passes, staff key passes and Agency I.D badges. Laminate any certificates or documentation requested by the Secure Wards
  • Order all packed lunches required for out of hours staff and on call staff
  • Conduct a thorough verbal handover from shift to another as well as a written handover
  • Attend all Departmental Meetings , Mandatory Training and Departmental Training
