HQ4608: General Manager
Location: Woking, Surrey
Salary: £35,000 to £45,000
An opportunity has become available for a competent General Manager to provide comprehensive support to the Chief Executive and to maintain and develop professional and efficient services by overseeing the following roles, Administration Manager, Operations Manager, Operations Coordinator and Operations Support.
Applications from ex-military personnel i.e. Navy, Royal Air Force (RAF) or Army are strongly encouraged.
The position is ideally suited for a person who can provide leadership guidance and support with emphasis on team building and be creating a positive environment by motivating others and leading by example in all areas of staff management including recruitment, performance, training and development. You are required to build and maintain professional relationships with all customers in order to understand and fulfil their requirements. Other duties include meeting with customers, resolving disputes, and standing in for the CEO and the Service Station General Manager when they are on holiday or during periods of other leave. You need to ensure that all society policies, procedures and work practices are adhered to, and ensure that vehicles are maintained to a high standard at all times.
Main Duties:
- Review and monitor contracts on a regular basis
- Seek feedback from users of the services and assess the quality of the service provided, to include customer surveys as directed by the CEO
- Stand in for the CEO as required, attending meetings and reporting to the Chairman and the Board
- Liaise with groups and promote Group Hire throughout the Borough
- Liaise with stakeholders and others who procure our services
- Ensure our core services are maintained to the highest standard
- Develop a good working relationship with the Service Station General Manager and garage staff
- Resolve and report any disputes, compiling reports in cooperation with the Operations Manager
- Work with other Managers to standardise service provision throughout the organisation
- Conduct recruitment interviews when requested
- In exceptional situations, as directed by the CEO, undertake driving or escort duties
- To comply with Data Protection and maintain confidentiality
Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:
Essential:
- This position will require an enhanced DBS clearance.
- Degree level or equivalent education standard
- Experience of passenger transport
- Hold a management CPC qualification, or obtain CPC within the first year
- You need to have strong people management and leadership skills, have the ability to multi-task, excellent administration, organisation and time management skills and an excellent and professional telephone manner.
- You need to have a good command of written and spoken English, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and relate well with people from a variety of backgrounds and levels.
- You need to be a quick learner, have strong attention to detail and be fully competent in all Microsoft packages.
Desirable:
- Administration management experience is desirable, as is an understanding or experience in vehicle repairs, maintenance and inspections.

Salary
Salary ranges between £35,000 and £45,000 depending on experience.
Hours
The General Manager will work 39-hour weeks.
