Part of the Priory’s specialist Education Service, Miles Lodge Children`s  home is a registered home for up to eleven young people aged 7 to 19 who have complex needs which may include autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) and complex associated difficulties. This home is open 52 weeks per year.

We believe Miles Lodge Children’s Home is a very special home for children and young people where daily living experiences and activities are meaningful and memorable and are designed to meet the needs of individual children in areas that are personal to them.

Children may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their communication difficulties and lack of social understanding.

Within our safe, structured and predictable environment, pupils will develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible, so that they are able to enjoy their lives and make real life choices as they reach adulthood.

If so, the role of Residential Support Worker could be right for you.

As a Residential Support Worker you will ensure that the children and young people in your care are safe, healthy and able to make a positive contribution, realising their full potential through enjoyment, achievement and economic well being.

This is a 52 week post and you must be prepared to work on a shift system including early, late and weekend shifts.

To succeed you will posses:

  • Emotional resilience
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness
  • A strong `can do` attitude
  • Effective communication skills
  • Previous experience in a special needs environment would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given to candidates who can demonstrate that they possess the skills required to be successful and a desire to learn
