Priory College Swindon, Stroud Campus is an new and exciting development linked to our established and well respected College in Swindon.  We are an independent specialist day and residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger`s syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural difficulties.

The college has a number of residential houses based in the Swindon community and this new residence, situated within an hour of the main campus, will form part of that network, have it`s own identit and working ethos. This aim of our service is to provide our students with the opportunity to experience independent living as they prepare for the next steps and stages in their lives.

We provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure, life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

You will join a dedicated team of staff helping to create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our students have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership of their home. Our approach enables young people to develop the confidence and skills they need to progress towards adulthood, including further or higher education and sustainable independent living in the community.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who has a sound knowledge of ASD, a passion for helping and supporting young people and with the skills to lead a small team in achieving the very best outcomes for the young people in their care.  You are likely to have prior knowledge and experience of working with a variety of children and young people with challenging, complex and diverse needs.  Specifically, the successful candidate will head up a new day service, based in Stroud in Gloucestershire. The successful candidate will be a dynamic forward thinker who can work proactively to lead and direct a team of staff to develop and ensure the implementation of excellent standards of care and education.  There will also be a link to a small number of Childrens home the successful candidate will also need to have oversight of the education provision for the young people in these services.  You will be capable of thinking outside the box in terms of recognising and tracking global progress for each young person.  You will be a problem solver with the ability to `think on your feet` to respond to the ever changing and diverse needs of our students.  Your communication skills will be excellent, both written and verbal, and your ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders in order to drive and develop this service will also be key. You will work well under pressure and be able to make good decisions that balances the needs of the service but has each young person at the centre of your decision making.  The ideal candidate will hold a teaching qualification.
