Description :

At Priory Education  we are  proud of our reputation for delivering quality education and care services with positive outcomes for children and young people aged 5 to 25 who have experienced difficulties in their previous education placements.

Please note this position is at our Stroud Campus, GL5 4AH. Please ensure that this is commutable for you when considering this role.

Priory College Swindon, Stroud Campus is a new and exciting development linked to our estblished and well respected College in Swindon.  We are an independent specialist day and residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger`s syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural and social and communication difficulties.

The college has a number of residential houses based in the Swindon community and this new residence, situated within an hour of the main campus, will form part of that network, have it`s own identity and working ethos. The aim of the service is to provide our students with an opportunity to experience independent living as they prepare for the next steps and stages in their lives.

We provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure, life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

You will join a dedicated team of staff helping to create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our students have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership of their home. Our approach enables young people to develop the confidence and skills they need to progress towards adulthood, including further or higher education and sustainable independent living in the community.

You will support the delivery of education to our students working across mainstream campuses as well as supporting education delivered on-site.  You will also provide a high standard of person-centred support and care aimed at enabling each young person to minimise their barriers and reach their potential.  Through a creative and caring approach you will also build good relationships with the families of our students helping everybody involved plan meaningful goals and support progress towards realistic outcomes.  Both personal care and participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital; experience however is not essential, providing you have a willingness to learn and the compassion and patience needed to support.

A comprehensive training programme will be provided. You must also be able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm when under pressure.  A clean driving licence with at least 3 years driving experience is essential. It is an expectation of the role that all Learning Support Workers will either work towards or already hold the level 3 Diploma for Children and Young Peoples Workforce. Various shift patterns are available, including early and late shifts including shifts at  weekends - this can be discussed in more detail at interview.

References

For all roles we require a minimum of two references.  References provided must cover the last 5 years.

Please be advised that references will be requested prior to interview for all roles within our schools.

If you are applying to work within our Children’s Homes we will need to request all references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults.
