Description :

Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK. With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

Talocher and Queenswood Schools are a specialist residential schools for girls and boys aged 11 to 19 with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD). The school provides a warm, welcoming and relaxed environment for young people who come to our schools from different backgrounds and care arrangements.

All pupils have an EHCP and find it difficult to function within a mainstream school environment.

We are looking for an Art and a Play Therapist to work on a consultancy basis, within the Priory Group Educational Settings, covering both schools across two counties (Herefordshire and Monmouthshire).

The Therapist will provide individual direct work with children and adolescents, suffering from a range of psychological difficulties and complex life experiences – including self-harm, drug use, depression, attachment disorder, anxiety, ADHD, experiences of abuse, grief, family breakdown, domestic violence, sexual exploitation and trauma.

The aim of the work will be to work alongside the well developed Psychology, Assessment, Consultation and Therapy Team (PACTT) in order to help young people develop skills to increase their emotional resilience and develop coping strategies while decreasing problematic behaviours and internalised conflicts.

As part of your role you might be asked to attend Reviews, or participate in professionals` meetings.

Some individual sessions might be delivered out of school ours or at the residential homes. These cases are unusual, but the applicant would need to be flexible and able to work in different environments.

Applicant would have to write a weekly session evaluation sheet for each case, and complete end of term reports 3 times per year.

You will be HCPC accredited, with relevant qualifications and experiences for the post.

Applicant will have their own arrangement for supervisions, however operational supervision will be provided by the Coordinator of the Therapy Team.

Personal liability insurance is needed for the role as you will be working on a self-employed basis.

References

For all roles we require a minimum of two references.  References provided must cover the last 5 years.

Please be advised that references will be requested prior to interview for all roles within our schools.

If you are applying to work within our Children’s Homes we will need to request all references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults.
