Description :

Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK. With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

Offering a warm and welcoming environment, Rugeley School is specialist residential school for young people aged 5 to 19 with autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties.

The school provides a modern setting in which students can achieve an enhanced degree of emotional stability through an active approach to learning. Students are able to engage in daily life with increased confidence, self-esteem, dignity and independence.

Our ethos is to promote the development of social behaviours, independence and personal skills, offering opportunities to practice them in real life settings. We provide care with a strong emphasis on the importance of privacy, dignity, rights, choice and fulfilment in a comfortable, homely, stimulating and safe environment.

As a Residential Support Worker you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our young people. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both students and their families, supporting them in the planning of goals and in living as independently as possible.

Successful applicants will be required to provide a range of support services including help with personal care and helping to develop social skills and home skills to students in their residential setting.

This is a physically demanding role and staff will also need to have the confidence to deal with the challenging behaviours that autism can present.  We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all our employees to share in this commitment.

Part Time and Full Time positions also available

What we’d like from you:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective organisational capability
  • Great team player
  • Flexibility to respond to the changing needs of those who we support
  • Strong “can do” attitude
  • Due to the requirement of the standards that we work to in the residential setting all staff need to have reached the age of 21
