Set back within 15 acres of landscaped gardens, the tranquil environment of the Priory Hospital Southampton offers therapeutic and recovery focused residential treatment as well as day care and outpatient services. The hospital also provides a specialist inpatient service for children and adolescents and in total provides 40 beds.  The  services provided at the hospital include an eating disorder ward, a young peoples ward (CAMHs) and an adult ward, with treatment of most psychiatric conditions.

We have a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and therapists.

The Role:

We are looking for a reliable building maintenance person who is also competent to carry out driving tasks and work on occasion independently at another site and providing an excellent opportunity to join the Priory Hospital Service Team in Marchwood, Southampton. 

This role requires good skills and knowledge in the following:

Essential:

  • Painting and decorating, filling and minor plastering
  • Plumbing including carrying out water temperature and plant room checks
  • Electrical awareness so that you can become familiar with building electrical safe isolation points and have basic understanding of what contractors are doing when carrying out planned maintenance tasks.  These include the maintenance of access control systems, our CCTV and IT Network – you are not required to do diagnosis and maintenance yourself on these systems.
  • You will have the ability to quickly become familiar with the layout of the building, its utility voids and access to services.
  • You will be experienced in dealing with COSHH substances, H&S rules especially around manual handling and working at heights and have the ability to assess basic tasks and evaluate risk completing risk
  • You will have the ability to carry out a portage roll involving some heavy lifting and desk moves and be competent in manual handling techniques.
  • You will have a good foundation in IT including the use of MS Office and you will also be able to resolve onsite networking (connection of PCs to the network and printers) and PC issues in conjunction with the Priory IT Help desk – these will be limited to simple tasks.
  • You should have a clean full driving licence and be competent in vehicle maintenance checks.
  • You will be a good time keeper and polite with good customer facing experience.

Useful skills but not essential:

  • You will have experienced carrying out water and fire checks, being very diligent in that role.
  • Ideally you will used to managing contractors and would have provided site inductions to contractors in the past to ensure that they comply with our safety arrangements on site.
  • Previous grounds maintenance experience, gardening and awareness of various plant and tree habitats – you will be expected to perform gardening and ground maintenance work as part of the role.
