Kneesworth House is a 155 bed mental health hospital situated in Hertfordshire (on the borders of Cambridgeshire) with good commuting access to / from London. The hospital has a full pathway of care including medium, low secure, locked rehabilitation and open recovery wards  situated across the site.

Our Head of Secure Receptions role involves:

The role will involve having a hands-on approach to reception duties, organising and coordinating all administration and operational procedures related to the day to day management of all reception areas.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • To induct and instruct the use of all equipment associated with the reception areas to enable staff to use the equipment effectively and ensure all reception staffs are suitably trained to the appropriate standard
  • To induct and instruct the security and operational procedures associated with the reception areas  to enable staff to perform effectively and in line with hospital procedures
  • To ensure all reception staffs answer the telephone and greet staff and visitors in a welcoming, clear, positive and professional manner
  • To ensure a thorough and proper handover between the reception staff according to the shift pattern
  • To ensure all audits, records, logs and paperwork associated with Reception areas are completed in a timely manner
  • To be responsible for managing all staffing issues within the reception areas  including rotas, overtime, holiday cover, in-house training, recruitment of staffs
  • To be responsible for the induction, training, development and appraisal of reception staffs
  • To provide backup and support within the staffing structure and carry out reception duties in the event of absence/illness including weekend, evening and bank holidays
  • To organise bank staff/cover as required
  • To work closely with The Support Services Manager and Senior Management Team for the effective delivery of services from reception
  • To maintain an overview of policies and procedures and ensure that all associated with the reception area are regularly reviewed and updated
  • To organise Health and Safety audits to maintain health and safety standards throughout the reception areas
  • To ensure that the reception areas are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition at all times
  • To attend meetings as and when required

To be successful as Head of Secure Receptions you`ll need:

  • Excellent communication, organisational and management skills with strong team leadership and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to a multi-task, prioritise a diverse workload and work calmly under pressure.
  • Have a smart, presentable appearance with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Have a reception background with similar working experience.
