The Company and the Role:
Our Client provides facilities management support to the International Peacekeeping Force which operates two military camps and a number of out bases in the Sinai, Egypt.
They are currently seeking a Chief Fire Officer to be based at the North Camp located in the North of the Sinai close to the Mediterranean coast.
This is an initial 6 month contract position and then renewable for an additional 2 years provided you pass your 6 month probation and a medical.

Key Features of the Role:
Reporting into the Program Manager, you will manage two (2) Fire Departments; one at North Camp (NC) and one at South Camp (SC) located on the outskirts of Sharm El Sheikh.
You will make plans and decisions related to fire safety, emergency management and fire ground operations to support the peace - keeping mission.
You will administer the fire prevention, fire suppression, and pre-suppression activities of NC and SC multi-station department.
You will supervise firefighting and administrative personnel responsible for structural and aviation fire protection, hazardous materials response, emergency medical services, code enforcement, and arson investigation and you will provide policy direction to the Program Manager and Force Commander regarding building safety, major fires and disasters.
You will be responsible for full-performance-level support and leadership to the emergency response fire and rescue team covering our client`s operations.
You will plan, direct and co-ordinate all fire and safety inspections, prevention, suppression and training requirements for both structural and aircraft fire, crash and rescue in accordance with agreed Project Procedures and policies, regulations and instructions and as required by the Program Manager and/or the Force Commander.
Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to, directing all assigned firefighting operations in performing required activities in accordance with relevant NFPA and equivalent UK standards or Generally Accepted Industry and Professional Standards.
You will attend and take command of all fires, accidents or other safety emergencies when on duty or when requested by a subordinate Fire Officer or Crew Chief.
You will maintain operational, maintenance and training records including but not limited to property inventories, personnel, call-outs, inspections, preventive maintenance, investigations and fire extinguisher records.
Finally, you will train Egyptian National personnel in accomplishing work in accordance with the approved On-Job- Training program.

Knowledge and Skills:
To meet this unique challenge, you will be an accomplished Fire Officer having gained your experience in either a local authority, civil aviation or a military fire service with experience at Station Officer/Senior NCO level.
Aviation firefighting experience would be desirable.
You should have significant fire prevention experience and be familiar with NFPA and UK recognized safety and fire regulations.
You must have held at least Sub Officer (civil) or NCO (military) rank.
Ideally you will possess membership of a recognized professional Fire Prevention or Industrial Safety Organization.
You should be Certified under NFPA 1000 or 1001 or UK Equivalent. Qualifications for Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor, Hazmat Awareness, First Responder (Medical) or higher.
You must hold and maintain a current a valid HGV III driving license or equivalent.
You must have a thorough understanding of the incident command system.
You must have extensive knowledge of fire and emergency services operations.
You must have mental alertness, a mechanical aptitude and be physically fit.
You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of Egyptian nationals.
Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Fire Officer looking for something different.

The basic salary is paid in the currency of your citizenship and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
An initial 6 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, disability insurance and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The R and R entitlement is 12 days over the 6 month contract plus public holidays a year.  Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
