Mersey Lodge is our new,  purpose-built new unit for a young patient which will provide a bespoke package of high quality care in an innovative setting.  It represents a fantastic opportunity to be involved in developing and delivering a bespoke package of care, which has been specifically designed to meet the needs of our patient and will provide the colleagues involved with a unique career experience and the chance to develop their skills as part of the Mersey Lodge Team.

The approach to care delivery for our patient will follow the Positive Behavioural Support approach (PBS).  PBS is a positive and proactive evidence-based approach to manage challenging behaviour.  All staff working on Mersey Lodge will receive PBS training provided by Halton Council as well as ongoing support and development.  The new unit has been specifically designed to meet our patient`s needs and incorporates a living room with play station and DVD facilities, dining area, bedroom, a sensory room as well as a large outdoor area for trampolining, football practice and bike riding.   

Mersey Lodge will be staffed with input from a large multi-disciplinary team including a PBS lead based at Cheadle. Initially 4 staff will be on shift day and night .  The service will fall under the Recovery and Rehabilitation Service Line and will require dedicated and passionate staff to work in this brand new bespoke unit to support our patient and ensure all the needs are met

We are looking to recruit motivated individuals with a genuine interest in making a difference to people`s lives.

Successful applicants will have proven experience with Autism / Positive Behaviour Support, working as a Healthcare Assistant you will be expected to:

•           Be part of a large multi-disciplinary team providing safe and effective care for individuals with complex mental illness.

•           Observe / respond to patient`s behaviours on the ward, these may include self-harm and acts of aggression.

•           Ensure patients adhere to activities of daily living.

•           Facilitate patients community access and integration.

You will be caring and attentive with the skills to build strong and trusting relationships with people. It is also important that you work well in a team as you will work alongside qualified nurses and staff from other professions.  You will receive regular supervision and take part in regular training activities, you will also be required to ensure you meet the Care Certificate standards.

Our service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year round therefore we are looking for people who are flexible to cover shifts throughout the week at varying times of the day.
