The Company and the Role:
The Company is an International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai. As part of its role it maintains two military camps one in the North close to the Mediterranean coast and one in the South at Sharm El Sheikh.
They are currently seeking a Plumbing Supervisor to be based at the South Camp located at Sharm El Sheikh in the Sinai. There will be frequent spells of work in the North Camp as required. The position is offered on a 2 year contract, renewable.
Key Features of the Role:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager you will supervise and schedule the maintenance, repair, modification, alterations, installation, termination and construction of fresh and foul waste water systems, irrigation systems, heating systems, steam and LPG gas related systems at various locations.
You will be responsible for supervising tradesman and for ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with safety procedures, practices and policies.
You will, as the Plumbing Supervisor assist with the planning of plumbing tasks, prepare designs for use by technical designers and bills of material necessary to accomplish a project.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Plumbing Supervisor with experience of working in a service industry involving commercial and/or residential maintenance, and have as your core skills– plumbing, pipe fitting and boiler operations.
You should have knowledge of methods to Install and repair pipes, fittings, fixtures and tanks that relate to the storage and movement of LPG and petroleum, oils, and lubricants (POL) systems.
As the Plumbing Supervisor, you should have knowledge of the maintenance of pumps and water treatment systems, hot and cold water systems, maintenance of water sprinklers, irrigation systems, sewer lift stations, and water well.
As the Plumbing Supervisor, you should have knowledge of the legal requirements governing the performance of plumbing, LPG and POL work.
Your practical experience should be supported by a UK City & Guilds certification or equivalent in Plumbing.
Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal. As would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of Egyptian nationals.
Finally, you should be pc literate and possess a Drivers Licence
What’s on Offer?
Salary will be around £43,000 pa. The salary is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Included in the basic salary is a 20% location allowance payable and also a 7% allowance in lieu of a pension scheme, both of which are tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
A 2 year unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, health insurance and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The holiday entitlement is 28.5 days plus 12 public holidays.
Our client does not provide a specified number of free flights but awards a cash sum each year in US Dollars which the employee can spend as they wish to facilitate their R and R leave. Mobilisation and De-Mobilisation flights are paid for by our client.
