Priory College Swindon, Stroud Campus is a new and exciting development linked to our estblished and well respected College in Swindon. We are an independent specialist day and residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger`s syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural and social and communication difficulties.
The college has a number of residential houses based in the Swindon community and this new residence, situated within an hour of the main campus, will form part of that network, have it`s own identity and working ethos. The aim of the service is to provide our students with an opportunity to experience independent living as they prepare for the next steps and stages in their lives.
We provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure, life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.
You will join a dedicated team of staff helping to create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our students have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership of their home. Our approach enables young people to develop the confidence and skills they need to progress towards adulthood, including further or higher education and sustainable independent living in the community.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who has a sound knowledge of ASD, a passion for helping and supporting young people and with the skills to lead a small team in achieving the very best outcomes for the young people in their care. You are likley to have prior knowledge and experience of working with a variety of children and young people with challenging, complex and diverse needs. Sepcifically, the succesful candidate will head up a new site, based in Stroud in Gloucestershire which comprises of 6 bed residential site and oversight of a small number of day students.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic forward thinker who can work proactively to lead and direct a team of staff to develop and ensure the implementation of excellent standards of care and education. You will also be capable of thinking outside the box in terms of recognising and tracking global progress for each young person. You will be a problem solver with the ability to ’think on your feet’ to respond to the ever changing and diverse needs of our students. You will work well under pressure and be able to make good decisions that balances the needs of the service but has each young person at the center of your decision making. The role will require the individual to undertake some shift work (this may include weekend working).
You must be an established level 3 practitioner and also hold or be working towards QCF Diploma level 5.
