Description :

Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK. With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

Arden College is a co-educational specialist residential college, providing specialist support and care for young people aged 16 to 25 with learning difficulties, including communication difficulties and/or behavioural support needs. Located in the heart of Southport on the west coast of Lancashire, the college offers extensive learning and work experience opportunities within the local community, with the aim of increasing independence and employability skills.

Our aim is to create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our young adults have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership for their home. We wish to enable young people to develop the confidence and skills they need for the next stage of their lives.

With a dedicated team of staff, we aim to provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure and life skills and training within the community, enabling them to live as independently as possible and make their own life choices.

We are currently recruiting residential support staff to work with the students providing care and support to promote their independence and personal development in all areas of their life. We have a 24 hour rota and shifts are available for day, evening and waking nights.

Residential support staff promote learning in the evenings and weekends during all extended curriculum activities, and during the weekdays  will accompany the students into college lessons and provide support under the direction of the teacher.

The successful candidate will show a strong commitment to providing an excellent service, and a good understanding of the value and importance of educational opportunities for all young people.

Level 3 Diploma/award in Health and Social Care (or an agreement to work towards this qualification in-house) is a requirement of the position.

Experience of working with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities is essential.

Experience of working in an educational environment is desirable.

A 40 hour, 52 week contract can attract a salary of up £16,000 with 33 days holiday p.a. (inclusive of bank holidays) and an hourly rate of up to £7.69.
