Partnerships in Care 1 Ltd is one of the UK’s leading providers of independent specialist secure and step-down services for people with mental illness, personality disorders, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and brain injuries.

We have a number of opportunities for talented and motivated individuals to join our team of Therapeutic Care Workers based within our Bisley and Newcombe Lodge units in Stroud.

We provide therapeutic residential care and education for women aged 13-21 who typically self-harm, have attachment difficulties, associated multiple risk-taking behaviours and complex presentations. We see the young person behind the behaviour. 

While the challenging behaviour of the young people we work with means that we have a wide range of risk management procedures and design elements in place, we also provides a sensitive and homely atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable and safe.

This is a full time position consisting of 5 x 8 hour shifts. You will need to be flexible as these roles will include some evenings and weekends. You will know your working pattern 2 months in advance.

Our Therapeutic Care Worker role involves:

  • Ensuring that you understand and are able to implement all requirements of Mental Health Specialist Services’ Policies and Procedures
  • Undertaking a variety of administrative duties which are pertinent to the running of the service
  • Ensuring clear lines of communication are utilised, promoting the welfare of the Clients, including liaising with parents/carers and other professionals/agencies ie: Social Workers, Nurses and Psychotherapists
  • Assisting each Client with the development of their Education, through Mental Health Specialist Services Education Services, and working closely with teaching staff (as appropriate)
  • Assisting the Clients with personal care as appropriate
  • Contributing towards the preparation of meals and supporting the catering staff as appropriate
  • Demonstrating an ability to operate as a member of a team
  • Having an open mind, in relation to service user’s needs and culture and to have a knowledge and understanding of the service users needs and rights
  • Possessing the ability to diffuse/resolve stressful situations with the use of effective communication skills
  • Undertaking training and development courses as required and to contribute to the identification of own training and development needs
  • Attending all statutory and mandatory training as required by the Company in order to fulfil your duties
  • Maintaining standards of infection control within the home and during clinical care and to assist residents to maintain their own infection control needs

To be successful as a Therapeutic Care Worker, you’ll need:

  • Able to accurately record basic physical observations
  • Able to prioritise workload
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Able to use own initiative

  • Willingness to participate in holidays and other activities
  • To work in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Basic understanding of using IT systems (MS Office, Web Based System) (Desirable)
  • Previous experience of Therapeutic work (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of eating disorders and or self injury (Desirable)
